00:00Yesterday, Bitcoin dropped from like $87,000 to $82,000, and today, we dropped from $82,000 down to $80,000
00:04But why? People are always gambling
00:07People were gambling that the price of Bitcoin would go up, and they were wrong
00:10$1.5 billion of leverage in the markets was wiped out
00:13If you invested in Bitcoin, you should feel like an idiot
00:16The only thing that should double that quickly [music] is the value of Bitcoin
00:19Just kidding
00:21That was a garbage investment, and you're an idiot
00:24Bitcoin is just Beanie Babies for tech bros
00:26It's days like these when Bitcoin, as a digital Beanie Baby, finds its legs
00:32And it's because people don't realize the fact that Bitcoin was at $6,500 a coin when Assan Minaj made this joke
00:35The joke's on him
00:37You see
00:40Bitcoin's volatility, and you might be wrestling with whether this is an asset that I should get into or if I should sit on the sidelines
00:42Well, today I'm going to explain why Bitcoin is something that you should consider for your portfolio and why, if Bitcoin hits 100K, the race is on
00:50The people who hold win, the people who trade get washed out
00:55This is Dante Cook with Bitcoin Simplified
00:59Let's go
01:02If you've listened to the intro, you know that Bitcoin has seen quite a dip
01:05We've dipped from 87K to 82K, back down to 80K, and back up to 82 or 83K right now as of recording
01:08And if you look at what actually happened, there were 1.5 billion dollars worth of leveraged longs
01:14That's people trying to YOLO into Bitcoin, betting that the price is going to go up
01:19And when The price goes down, well, they have to sell all of those options at a loss
01:23They bet, and the exchange closed them out automatically
01:28Bye-bye, money
01:34But the part that nobody's discussing is, if you look at a liquidation map like this, there's some liquidity sitting between 78K and 80K, but the majority of the liquidity in Bitcoin right now is between 82K and 90K
01:39And the price tends to move where liquidity is because people are not going to sell their Bitcoin at a loss
01:45There's a lot of psychology going on in the market right now
01:49People are waiting for Bitcoin to hit new lows in October, which has historically been its best performing month, or maybe in November
01:52People are waiting for Bitcoin to sell off
01:55People are..
01:57Psychologically, people are broken that Bitcoin's down in a year that it's supposed to be green
01:59It's down two and a half percent
02:02If you listen to this great podcast between Joe, Dr
02:04Jeff Haldane, Bitcoin mentor, you understand what's actually going on in the markets
02:07And here's the positive side: what happens if Bitcoin breaks 100K? For us to have a green year, we're only about 2.5% away from a green year
02:12We came in at about 88,000, a little over 88,000 in January
02:16So that's just a boring afternoon for Bitcoin to get above 88K
02:21Additionally, to reach 100K is only a 20% move
02:24It's less than a 20% move from where we're sitting right now
02:28That's not difficult to do
02:30I'm curious, Joe, then, if you think that the..
02:33Knowing the calendar call is looking for that low in October
02:36Do you think there's still capital on the sidelines, determined to wait until this month is out before they come back in? Yeah, I absolutely do
02:40I mean, I—I that's why I go into some of the crypto trader rooms because I hear them all talking about this, like, oh, it's 10 years of data
02:45Never let me down
02:50Maybe it happens in November, not December, but we think lower lows are coming
02:54There's still people making 40K calls
02:57Um, you know, I—I think there is a lot of capital
03:00And then more importantly than the capital that is waiting from the traders is, I think, that psychologically, the media and the narrative start shifting once you get close to 100K
03:05That the 100K is a massive milestone
03:09It's a psychological thing
03:14I mean, for for normies, I think once you establish 100K as the floor, I think it unlocks 200K, 300K, 400K
03:18100K is almost like the starting belt, you know
03:25I, I said this on previous podcasts, but I went to the bar with my friends, none of whom hold Bitcoin, despite, you know, years of me proalitizing to them, and without being told by me, they all knew the price was around 100K
03:35They all knew that 100K is the starting line
03:41That's the psychological barrier where your neighbor starts to ask you about Bitcoin
03:45I have Bitcoin, somehow, with six digits of numbers, begins to be attractive to people, and it gets people who've been in Bitcoin and have gains in their Bitcoin to think, should I sell my..
03:53Bitcoin? A really great conversation came up from the caller on the Dave Ramsey show, where their husband has about $600,000 in Bitcoin, and the wife wants their house paid off
03:59Listen to the real psychological dilemma and tension that goes on with people who've held Bitcoin for a while
04:09 Um, so my husband and I are on different pages about using our investment that we have in crypto to pay off our mortgage
04:16Wow
04:23Now, he does agree that he would like to use it eventually, but he would like to wait for it because he believes it's going to grow exponentially and it's too volatile for me
04:29Um, and so I would rather pay it off now and have some peace of mind
04:35 And then, how much does he have in Bitcoin? Um, enough to pay off our mortgage
04:38Plus some
04:41Wow
04:44So, we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars
04:48Mhm
04:52What did he pay for all that Bitcoin? Um, that's part of the issue
04:56I don't know exactly what his base price was, but he, you know, the tax hit that we'll get on it
05:00So, um, part of my question today was, um, because I don't know if him and I will get on the same page right now, but if there are any, um, strategies regarding the tax hit that we'll get
05:07Is that what he's actually worried about? Um, well, he's worried about that and also he believes that it's going to keep growing
05:16Um, and so he'd rather wait for it to grow more, so he has to sell off less
05:25Then why would you ever sell it if it's going to grow indefinitely? Because that means your tax bill is going— To grow, too
05:31I know
05:38I, I, I, I understand and I agree
05:44Do I hold? Do I sell? The question is hilarious that the second co-host asked, "Well, if it's going to go up forever, then why would you sell it?" That's a perfectly right and logical question because if you look at the chart of Bitcoin, well, it just continues to go up and up over time
05:51And this is a perfect moment to shout out our sponsor, because Lendbit will allow you, if you've held your Bitcoin for a while, to not even worry about selling it
06:00If you want liquidity to pay off your house or to do something else, well, you borrow against your Bitcoin
06:03You don't sell it
06:06You don't get any credit checks, and liquidity gets in your account in less than 6 hours
06:09Work with Lendbit
06:12Bitcoin
06:15Let's get back to that episode
06:17He has a thing that's not yours that you're not including you on, that was y'all's, and now it's become his
06:20And the thing beneath the thing is I want to, I want to not have a mortgage
06:23I want to feel safety and security in my home
06:26So if you need to keep this precious thing, and by the way, I own zero Bitcoin, not one shred
06:31And do I wish I could go back in time and buy a whole bunch at nothing? Of course I do
06:35And I also didn't get into Beanie Babies and NFTs and all these other things
06:39You throw enough darts backwards, one's going to hit
06:43Great
06:48And it could go up a 5 trillion percent, and it could go to zero because it's always going to have to be traded for actual money at some point, right? Yeah
06:50He wishes that
06:53He could go back and buy Bitcoin if it was only sooner
06:56And I never bet on Beanie Babies, other cryptocurrencies, or NFTs
06:59This is the result of somebody else who realized that they should have gotten into Bitcoin a long time ago
07:02And what happens is Bitcoin becomes the joke whenever it goes down a few thousand dollars every day
07:05But when you look out and zoom out over a long time, you realize that the joke ends up being on you
07:11Here's a great clip from the Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj when Bitcoin was at $6,500
07:15And now, we're talking about Bitcoin at $80,000 today, even though it's crashed again
07:22Listen to this clip: "The only thing that should double that quickly is the value of Bitcoin." Just kidding
07:27That was a garbage investment, and you're..
07:30An idiot
07:33Bitcoin is just Beanie Babies for tech bros
07:37Look, man, every person I went to high school with was like, "Yo, Bitcoin is going to change your life
07:40BTC, get on it right now." And I'm like, "Tommy Wilson, you work at OfficeMax
07:45What the [ __ ] are you talking about?" [Applause] Oh, by the way, by the way, hey, internet comments, it's trading at 6.5K
07:50Go [ __ ] yourself
07:55Look, it turns out his friend Tommy was the guy who's pretty smart
07:59He was working at Office Depot or OfficeMax, and he probably bought the dip
08:04The real question you should be asking is, should I be holding dollars? And as we've discussed time and time again, holding dollars in a rapidly inflating environment where the government's constantly..
08:14Printing money is like having someone steal money out of your bank account without you even noticing it
08:19You think that you have a million dollars under the mattress, but go back a month later and realize that it's only $950,000
08:24That's the inflation eating away at your purchasing power
08:29Lawrence Leard, Uncle Larry, says that more printing from the government isn't just a prediction—it's actually math
08:34Base money, or the amount of dollars in the system, has to grow to support the debt and to support the growth of the economy
08:39Every time the gap between debt and base money gets too wide, it converges
08:44They print, aka the big print in 2008, the big print in 2020
08:49The question isn't if they will print, but when
08:53When and how much
08:57In a conversation with Jim and Natalie on Coin Stories, the founder of Kai Wealth says that the government is the biggest player at the table right now
09:01They're the person driving liquidity in the markets and they're the people who are going to continue to drive up stocks
09:10Do you hold assets? The incentive forces one outcome, and people know this deep down, which is obviously to print money because that's the golden goose, but also to buy stocks
09:23And what most people don't realize is that this is what's coming—not in 2 years or 3 years or 5 years, but in the next 3 to 6 months
09:27Print money, buy stocks
09:31And he thinks that it will happen in the next 3 to 6 months, and I agree with him
09:36When it comes to Midterms and elections, it's usually pretty bullish for the markets
09:40Well, and it's typically because politicians tend to juice their opportunity of getting reelected by implementing stimulative policies that favor them and current voters
09:48One of the things that Donald Trump is looking at doing immediately is instituting the Trump Accounts, a $1,000 deposit in the accounts of every kid in America to automatically buy stocks, including parts of the S&P 500
09:57What do you think that's going to do to the price of stocks in the S&P 500 if there are suddenly all of these new buyers with printed money out of thin air? What do you think that's going to do to the wealth inequality gap? The people who already own assets, the Baby Boomers, are four times as..
10:10Wealthy individuals, when adjusting for age, such as Gen X, have ten times as much wealth as millennials at the same ages
10:16And that's because they were able to accumulate assets at a much lower price, benefiting from the decrease in interest rates, the inflation of assets, and the inflation of goods
10:26This issue of unaffordability—well, if you look at this chart, it's actually a bipartisan problem
10:32It affects both Republicans and Democrats because unaffordability impacts us all
10:37And so, the people who have more assets and more wealth, when they want that new first home, will go in and swoop in at any price because they have the assets to buy it from you, since they have some money they want to invest
10:44Kids for free
10:51But if you don't have a wealthy parent, how are you going to compete? Get off zero with an asset class that's starting to accumulate capital, and you can do that in a multitude of ways
10:59One way is by working with our partner at SAS Mining
11:01You give them money, they hook you up with a state-of-the-art Bitcoin miner
11:04You don't have to worry about keeping it up, machines, wallets; they send it straight to your account
11:07They manage all the reporting, and there are wonderful tax benefits
11:12Consider getting off zero with SAS Mining
11:17One of the reasons you should consider getting off zero is because this is the early part of the adoption phase
11:22Listen to this conversation with Osprey and Matt Hougan from Bitwise as they..
11:27Get into what part of the mainstream adoption cycle Bitcoin is actually in
11:33Do you think Bitcoin is currently entering that mainstream phase? What would you characterize where we are right now? Yeah, we've just started
11:37We've just started
11:40I think before the ETF, we weren't there at all
11:47We were still in the early adopter phase
11:54And, you know, if you think of that classic chart of technologies that cross the chasm into mainstream adoption, there's always early adopters when there are challenges with the technology, and then there's a chasm, and they have to cross over it to the mainstream
11:58I think you can say that we just did
12:02We made it easy to access for most money through ETFs
12:05We have large asset managers..
12:07Managers that now support it
12:10Um, I think we're in the earliest phases of mainstream adoption
12:13And mainstream adoption, for what it's worth, could take 15 or 20 years
12:17It doesn't happen overnight
12:20These things are slower than you want
12:22But absolutely, we've crossed the chasm
12:24We're a mainstream asset now
12:26And those institutions, yeah, it's not just Bitwise
12:30There are more people coming to the table
12:35Listen to Hatha Zaguri, the CEO of 21 Capital, talking about how institutions are just getting started rolling into Bitcoin
12:39And when that wave of capital hits, well, you're going to wish that you actually owned some of them
12:44I mean, think about this: think about BlackRock and private equity funds, which are..
12:49The largest holders of single-family homes in America
12:55Well, if you're one of the people that were scooping up single-family homes before BlackRock, what do you think about the value of your property when BlackRock started swooping in to acquire them? It's going to go up
13:01Now, ask yourself that same question for Bitcoin
13:08Bitcoin as an asset—when you compare it to the total addressable market of savings, technology, and monetary assets out there—it's still a drop in the bucket
13:14It's very, very small
13:19We're talking about 1.7 trillion dollars compared to gold at over 30 trillion dollars, which is much bigger, or over 300 trillion dollars depending on how you look at the numbers
13:27So, in terms of Bitcoin, a..
13:35Monetary asset, it's still very, very early, which means that, you know, first of all, it explains a lot of the volatility because if you're a smaller asset, right, as players change their mindset and start to understand the asset, it can go one way or the other very quickly
13:43But also, and even more importantly, I think long term, if we think about all the uncertainty that we have in the world right now, it's one of the few assets out there that, in terms of monetary issuance, has full predictability
13:57When you compare, for example, even with gold, we know that gold is a very good hard asset, but you don't know exactly how much gold is being mined today, right, whereas in..
14:09Bitcoin is written in code; we see it every day, and I think gradually the world will actually pay a premium for predictability in terms of monetary issuance
14:14Bitcoin is the only asset that can do that right now
14:20So, in terms of capturing the total addressable market, it's still very early
14:25I think that explains part of the resilience as more and more people understand that
14:30Also, going back to the point of institutional adoption, we're starting to see large wealth managers out there, like Morgan Stanley and Bank of America, actually mention this, where they're actively going out and suggesting to their clients that they include Bitcoin as part of their portfolio
14:47Allocating some part in Bitcoin, right? Um, it's a small number for now, but that makes a huge difference
14:52I also think it makes a lot of sense because, when you compare just in terms of risk-return profile, Bitcoin has, you know, it's uncorrelated to most assets most of the time
15:04Of course, short-term correlation can go up, but long-term, the correlation is low
15:10It offers very good risk-adjusted returns if you can hold it for a long period of time
15:14I think gradually more and more CEOs and investors out there are starting to understand that, and suggest for clients to keep it in their portfolio with the right mindset — you know, if you buy it, you should withstand the volatility and have a mindset of a long-term hold
15:30A period of at least five years, right? That's what I always tell anybody buying Bitcoin: buy it, forget about it, you know
15:40Look again, look at it again in five years' time, and there's a high chance that you may outperform other assets out there
15:45We're starting to see large wealth managers, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, get into the game, and they're going to start having their clients allocate a portion of their funds to Bitcoin, probably through ETFs
15:56But it doesn't matter—it’s a percentage of their assets and holdings, which we know printing is an inevitability
16:00The people who have the most assets need a way to productively invest those assets
16:04And so, they're going to start to allocate a portion of their money
16:09And their funds to Bitcoin
16:13Twenty-three of the forty largest funds still won't include Bitcoin unless you bring it up, but I think it's time that you take ownership of your own journey
16:18If your advisor isn't talking to you about Bitcoin, maybe consider another one or ask them to bring it up
16:24So, let's close up, let's wrap up
16:31What's actually going on? Bitcoin's price has wiped out about $6,000 over the last several days, which some people think is crazy because of leverage long traders gambling on the price of Bitcoin going up, and they got liquidated to the tune of $1.5 billion
16:37Some people will use this opportunity to make jokes, calling Bitcoin a digital Beanie Baby, but not realizing that that same amount that was wiped out in a couple of days was..
16:47The total price of Bitcoin when Hassan Minaj made that joke about Bitcoin being a digital Beanie Baby
16:51So over time, the joke's on them because the inevitability of the government printing more money isn't a prediction
16:54It's actually math
16:56The big print happened in 2008
16:58The big print happened in 2020
17:01And so what we're starting to see is that this is the early mainstream adoption of Bitcoin, and it's anasset class that you should consider having in your portfolio
17:07Whether you hold, sell, stack more—that's your call
17:12But think about this: if you have been stacking Bitcoin for a while and you're one of these people who are like, "Should I sell? Should I pay off my house?" think about this: if you pay off your house
17:20What do you still have to pay every single year? Property taxes
17:25Do you actually own your house? And the limited cash flow that you get from your mortgage that you had from 25 or 30 years ago—well, $1,500 a month—is that meaningfully going to change your life with the cost of living and goods and inflation probably going up more in that time frame than you're going to be able to enjoy from that extra savings that you have every single month? Don't sell good assets
17:43Don't sell the hardest asset for an asset that you don't actually own
17:46Think about the future
17:50And if you're thinking about your future and your money, I think you should subscribe to the channel
17:53We drop some of the best content out there
17:57And on this channel, Bitcoin
18:01Simply, we do it in a way that every single person, no matter where you come from, whether you're a finance nerd, have a degree or not, can understand
18:05And we think a lot about the future, which is why we're glad to announce our newest sponsor, Fund My Piggy
18:08Everybody knows that crowdfunding campaigns are hard
18:11And so, when you introduce something like Bitcoin into something that's already hard, you already lose people
18:14But if you are a Bitcoiner, if you do believe in the long-term potential of Bitcoin, you can still do your crowdfunding campaign the same way that you always have
18:24Have people contribute to a fund, to a goal, to one of your kids' college funds, in dollars that they already have through their Visa
18:28Account, their debit card, their checking account, and have that convert to Bitcoin automatically in the background
18:38You'll be glad you did because Bitcoin has proven a lot of people wrong, showing that it's not just a digital Beanie Baby
18:43Use it to power your next crowdfunding campaign, achieve another goal, savings goal, or give a gift that you want to pass on to someone else
18:47Have everyone give the way they normally do, but you're going to give them a better gift: money that doesn't devalue—Bitcoin
18:52This is Dante Cook
18:56Bitcoin simply
18:57Happy stacking
