00:00What I'm about to show you today feels like a literal cheat [music] code to trading, like you have actually cracked the system
00:05This works for smaller accounts
00:07When you take a loss, it is usually minimal and it ensures that you are always trading with the [music] trend
00:13It gives you the highest possible upside with the smallest downside, smallest risk
00:17And today, I'm going to break this down with you piece by piece, step by step
00:20By the end of this video, you're going to have a simple, repeatable [music] system that you can use on any chart in any time frame
00:27Okay, now let's open up [music] Trading View and get right into it
00:29So, this entire system is built on one [music] concept, trend lines
00:33So, it is incredibly important that you understand how to utilize the trend lines
00:37Maybe there's a way that you identify or interpret trends, but we need to make sure that we have the same system across the board so that you can continue to repeat this again and again
00:45Now, if you already know what a trend line is, stay with me
00:48I might have a different way of identifying them and tracking them than you're used to
00:52But if you don't know what a trend line is, let me give you some quick context while I find some on the chart
00:56Now, when I'm looking for trends on the charts, I use something called a ray tool
00:59Over here on the toolbox to the left, you'll see all of the trend line tools
01:02This is going to be your bread and butter, the ray tool
01:06This one has a point A, a point B, and then extends indefinitely in one direction
01:09You can favorite it, so it'll stay right up here, easy to access
01:10Now, the trend line allows us to identify swing highs or swing lows or the direction and speed in which an instrument is moving
01:21So, when we're drawing trend lines, we're trying to capture as many touch points as possible and identify swing highs for downward trend lines and swing lows for upward trend lines where the price has come up higher, created a swing low, continued to move and push higher
01:33So, we've got upward trend lines, we've got downward trend lines
01:36This is just showing us the direction of price movement
01:38Each time it comes up and creates a high, it pushes lower
01:42Each time it creates a high, it pushes lower
01:44This is a lower high, a lower high, and continuing to push lower and lower and lower
01:47For the upward trend, we've got higher lows
01:50Each time price comes down and creates a low, it still pushes back
01:52This is a higher low, creates a low, but it's a higher low, a higher low, a higher low, and continuing to push higher and higher
01:58So, these trend lines allow us to identify the direction of the price
02:03It allows us to also identify the speed
02:06How steep is the trend line? How fast is it trending up? So, the tool allows us to track the price
02:09Essentially, that's what we're trying to do
02:11Okay, so this was the easy part
02:12You know how to draw the trend line
02:14You know how to lock it in
02:15But a trend line on its own is worth nothing
02:17[music] Now, here's the part that most people skip
02:18is something called top down analysis
02:19So I want to walk you guys through it, [music] explain how useful it is, why we use it, and how we do it step by step
02:25So we're going to start by deleting the random lines that we've drawn on the chart
02:28And the first place we'll start
02:29So to get us in position, we need to start on the monthly time frame
02:33And I'll explain why
02:34So the monthly time frame gives us as much context as possible
02:37We get to see what your instrument has done from the very beginning, the very beginning when you hit that dinosaur icon to where the price is at now
02:44Open price action right here, hard edge
02:46You get to see all of the context
02:48That's amazing
02:49That's the top
02:49Now, we need to work our way down
02:51Top down analysis
02:51So, outside of seeing the context of all of its movement, all of the highs it's ever made, the lows it's ever made, we want to bring in this tool that I showed you guys just a moment ago, the ray tool or the trend line
03:03We want to identify trends on the monthly time frame
03:05And in order to do that, we hit the ray tool just like we did before
03:09For our very first downward trend line, we're using the highest point we see on the screen as our pivot point or point A
03:13Boom
03:13We just locked it in
03:15Now, we need to lock in the degree or the angle
03:18And this is how
03:20So, you have these few rules to abide by
03:22One, price cannot intersect the trend line
03:24So, when we're drawing our trend lines or identifying these trends and marking them up, we have to make sure that price has not poked through
03:30So, I'll show you what it looks like when price has poked through
03:31If we drew a line right here, it looks amazing
03:35Point A, touch point, touch point, touch point, close enough here, but price has already poked through and intersected completely
03:41So, this would be incorrect for our top down analysis
03:44So we need to make sure price has not intersected
03:46This is our very first downward trend line
03:49We followed the rule
03:50Price hasn't intersected
03:50Now we have another rule
03:52Each trend line has to connect
03:54And that brings me to my next point as to how we do this topdown analysis
03:58So we're going to identify all of the trends we can in the monthly time frame
04:02But we want to continue marking up trends and moving down time frames
04:06So we'll identify the trends in the monthly
04:07We'll identify the trends in the weekly, then the daily, then the 4 hour, then the 1 hour leading all the way up to the 15-minut time frame
04:12But each trend line has to connect to one another as we work our way down from top down
04:18So this is putting all of the price movement that it's ever made all into context leading us up to where the price is at now
04:24So every time we move down a time frame, we've used the previous higher time frame to give us context for the next and so on and so forth leading all the way up to real-time price action
04:32That's the goal
04:34So we need to draw one more trend line on this monthly time frame before we start working our way down
04:38Now we need to follow the second rule here which is each trend line needs to connect to one another
04:43Now a good rule of thumb for that is each line's previous point B or most recent touch point will be your new point A, your new starting point or your new pivot point
04:52So this is where this previous trend line's point B was or last touch point
04:56This is now going to be where my new trend line starts
04:58Point A here
05:00Now we're still going to follow the same rules we did for the last one
05:02Make sure price doesn't intersect
05:02Boom
05:05This is as far as we can go
05:05We have just drawn two downward trend lines on the monthly time frame
05:08Amazing
05:08Now we need an upward trend line
05:10We need to identify bullish and bearish movement upward and downward trend lines on each time frame
05:16So now let's draw our very first upward trend line
05:17Same tool
05:18We're going to use the ray tool
05:18Now when drawing our first upward trend line, it is the opposite of our downward
05:22So when we drew our first downward trend line, we were looking for the highest point we see on the screen
05:27For our first upward trend line, we're looking for the lowest point we see on the screen
05:30Boom
05:30Right here
05:30Same set of rules
05:31We want to make sure we're trying to capture as many touch points as possible, but we don't want price to intersect
05:36So, we can't come up here
05:36We can't use this here
05:38This is the only place we can solidify or lock in our pivot point for the second trend line
05:44Now, we only have one upward trend line for this scenario here on the monthly time frame because price didn't give us any other swing highs or swing lows
05:51We've just completed marking up our trends on the monthly time frame
05:52But, we're not done
05:54This is called a top down analysis
05:56So, we need to continue working our way down
05:57We're done on the monthly
05:58Now, we need to move our way to the weekly time frame
06:00So, as you work your way to lower time frames, we're going to start to see more price action and get a little bit more precise with our lines
06:06So, you'll notice as you come into these lower time frames, our lines look a little bit wonky, a little bit off
06:11Each time we go down to a lower time frame, we'll make some slight adjustments
06:13We'll get that a little bit more [clears throat] precise on that low
06:16And we'll move this line to be a little bit more precise on that point B
06:19Our downward trend lines look great, though
06:20Now, we're going to move our way to the weekly time frame
06:21Now, in the weekly time frame, we need to draw one more downward trend line and one more upward trend line
06:26This is a great tool, by the way
06:28this reset chart view
06:28If your view of the charts ever gets skewed or messed up or wonky and you start to lose track of what you had going on, you can always come back to this reset
06:38Boom
06:38There we go
06:38And then zoom in and zoom out
06:39Now, we need to come in with a steeper downward trend line and a steeper upward trend line
06:43To continue tracking price steeper and steeper, identifying the trends in each time frame
06:48So, when we come in with a steeper upward trend line, we're going to follow the same rules
06:52Each trend line has to connect
06:53We want to try to capture as many touch points as possible, and we don't want price to intersect
06:57Now, in this scenario, we can see that we need to make a slight adjustment because our line is a little bit off
07:01Boom
07:01There we go
07:01Now, we've captured this touch point
07:03So, when drawing our steeper upward trend line, the previous point B or the most recent touch point on the last line will be the new touch point or the point A of our new trend line
07:12Boom
07:15Following the same rule
07:15There we go
07:15We have just drawn our second upward trend line
07:18Now, we need a steeper downward trend line
07:20Okay
07:20Previous point B is new point A
07:22Capture as many touch points as possible without price intersecting
07:25We can't go very far with this one
07:27If we come in any steeper, we'll have cut off this price here, but we can continue to keep going steeper with our downward trend lines
07:32Previous point B is new point A
07:34We're going to try to capture as many touch points as possible without price intersecting
07:38Okay, that is as far as we can go in the weekly time frame
07:40All of the lines that we just drew on the weekly had context from the monthly
07:44We're going to do the same thing for the daily time frame
07:45So, we just did monthly, we did weekly, now we're moving our way to the daily time frame
07:50Now, as we're coming into the lower time frames, remember, we'll have to make some slight adjustments because we're just getting a little bit more precise
07:56So, I want to make some slight adjustments to these lines here, to this line here
08:00And upward trend lines look great
08:02Okay, for the upward trend line, I can see a steeper upward trend line that we can draw
08:06Previous point B is new point A
08:07Capture as many touch points as possible without price intersecting
08:10Now, let's keep going
08:11Let's go from the daily to the 4 hour
08:13We need to make some slight adjustments here
08:15And we can come in even steeper
08:17So, previous point B's, new point A
08:17Try to capture as many touch points as possible, but don't let price intersect
08:23Now, let's go to the 1 hour time frame
08:24Okay, now we're in the 1 hour time frame
08:26We've cleaned up our lines ever so slightly
08:28We've got our point A, we got our point B
08:29Now, let's go to the 15minut time frame
08:32We're going to zoom out a little bit here and adjust our lines a little bit
08:35This needs to go there and that needs to go there
08:38Now, we have made it all the way to the 15-minut time frame
08:43This means we have just taken in all of the context from all of the higher time frames leading us all the way up to real-time price action right now at this 8216 here
08:50Okay
08:50So, we have drawn our trend [music] lines
08:55We've done our top down analysis
08:55We know what it is, how to do it, and why we use it
08:58These are still just lines
09:00So, now we need to understand how price [music] reacts to these lines and what do we do when price does
09:04Price is going to react in either one of two ways with our trend lines
09:08It's either going to get to it and respect it, bounce off, get to it and bounce off, or price is going to violate it and poke through and break through
09:18What I'm going to show you guys today is the cheat code to trading when price respects the line, when price gets to it and bounces off
09:27This is called a trend line bounce setup
09:29Now, when we're trading the bounce, that means we're anticipating that the price is going to continue to respect this line that we've drawn
09:37We're anticipating the price is going to come down to the line and then respect
09:40It's going to come down to the line and then continue to push higher, create these lower highs and continue to move higher and higher
09:45But now, how is this a risk-free bingo card? How does this give us the lowest possible risk scenarios and give us the smallest possible losses? It's because if we're anticipating the bounce, that means we're getting involved when the price is as close to the trend line as possible
10:00So that when it does turn around and move in our favor, we just got involved at the most pivotal moment here where price got to the line, showed us it was respecting, and then pushed higher
10:07If it doesn't push higher, this is what I really want to show you
10:11If this trade doesn't work out and it doesn't continue to respect the line, let's say price gets here, we enter our position at the pivotal moment and then price violates
10:21This right here is the smallest possible risk to take on to put us in position in case price was going to push higher
10:28Okay, so we've gone over the idea of the pivot point when price respects when it violates
10:33But now I want to show you the exact [music] criteria that gets us into the trade
10:38So what needs to happen in order for us to get into the trade? Price at minimum has to get at or near the trend line
10:44Amazing
10:44So now let me show you this in a realworld example
10:48What price is actually done and how you would be using the strategy in an example like this, which is crude oil on the 15-minute time frame
10:54Having done your full topdown analysis, price is heading towards one of our trend lines
10:59Remember, we want to get involved at the pivotal moment when price gets at the line or near the line close enough to the line
11:05I'm going to use the replay tool to move bar by bar as price reacted or as the way price action actually played out to see where do we get in, how do we take action and get into a trade
11:14So, right now price is heading towards the line
11:15It's moving away from it now
11:17Okay, it's pushing towards the line again
11:19But remember, we don't want to get involved until we get to that pivotal moment where price is at or near the line
11:24It's getting very close
11:24It's getting very close
11:27We're about to hit that pivotal moment here
11:28Boom
11:28Price has just gotten close enough to our line
11:32Now, what does this mean? So, we have just watched price come all the way down to our trend line
11:35This is a very pivotal area
11:37What do we do now? This is our time to take action
11:39So, this is where I like to call this upward line an action line
11:44It will only become an action line when price reacts to this line
11:47Now that price has gotten to it and bounced off, it is our time to take action
11:50This is our entry criteria right here
11:52This is what gets us into the trade
11:54I'm going to get us into our position here
11:56We want to take action
11:57We want to get into a position
11:57We're going to do one contract
11:58We're going to place a buy order
12:00But now, where does our stop go? How much are we willing to lose in this position? Do you remember the example that I gave you where we drew out getting in at the pivotal moment and then price violating the line? This is exactly what has to happen in order for us to take a loss if price violates the line
12:16So, if we get into our position right here at this 8180 and the price comes down and violates the line, we will lose $420
12:22Now, if that number sounds big to you, remember we talked about how this setup is geared towards smaller account sizes
12:28If this is too big for you, there is something called crude oil micro, which is onetenth the amount of the mini
12:34So, I want to walk you guys through the exact same trade, but if you were to trade this on the micros
12:40So, we're going to go over here to micro crude oil to the 15-minute time frame
12:44We're going to wait for price to work its way to our line, our pivotal point before we get involved
12:50Boom
12:50Same exact price point here
12:52We're going to get into our same trade here
12:53One contract market stop-loss
12:55Now, if the price breaks our safety line, we are going to lose $50
12:58A significant difference between the $420 over here, we've got the $50 over here
13:06It could even be $42 depending on how tight we put this stock
13:09If the price violates the line after this pivotal moment, we lose $42
13:13Let's lock in this position we're in
13:16And we're going to lock in the same position in the minis over here
13:19Okay
13:19I'm going to put these side by side so that we can see the same trade play out with someone that has a smaller account size versus someone who can trade the minis has a little bit bigger account size
13:28But the risk, the downside to each one of these is still minimal
13:32All right
13:32In the lower account size scenario, we have already made one one
13:36We're up $57
13:36We were willing to lose 42
13:39Now, let's go over to the bigger account size
13:41Same scenario over here
13:42We're up 580
13:42we were willing to lose 420
13:45This is just the beginning
13:47We're still not done here
13:47Remember, I also mentioned that this is going to give you the lowest possible downside, but the highest possible upside
13:52We're looking for more than just $57
13:54Same in this scenario
13:56We're looking for more than just $580
13:58We want to get in for this entire trend, this entire movement
14:02So, how long are we going to stay in this position for? Well, we've talked about the line that tells us when to take action
14:06When price gets to this pivotal moment, gets at or near our [music] trend line
14:10That's our entry
14:11That's our action line
14:11But now, when do we get out? How long and how much profit do [music] we want to take? How much can we capture? This is when price violates the line
14:19So, we know as soon as we got in, if price would have violated, we would have taken our $42 loss or our $420 loss
14:24But what happens if price keeps going? We're going to continue to move this stop as price moves along our trend line
14:31As price continues to trend in this direction
14:33So, each time price gives us a new swing low or a new pivot point or a new area, we want to move this stop to capture that
14:40If that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, don't worry
14:43We're going to walk through this step by step
14:44So, let's keep going
14:45Right now, we're up $1,000, $500
14:47There was a point in time where we were up a,000 and almost back down to break even within two candles here
14:52The coolest part about this that we don't have to worry
14:55We don't have to think, are we going to give all this profit back? As long as price respects this upward trend line, we're comfortable even when we just went from a,000 to break even in two candles
15:04We're only anticipating an exit when price violates the line
15:08It doesn't matter if it comes back to break even
15:09If price comes back to the line, we want to see it violate in order for us to close and be done with the trade
15:15So, let's see what this potential upside could be for this trade
15:18We're going to keep going
15:18We're waiting for price to give us another swing low for us to move this stop
15:24Right now, we're up $2,660 in the minis
15:27Let's go back over to the micros
15:28We saw that same spike within two candles
15:31Price hasn't violated our safety line
15:33And boom, we're up $281
15:36Let's keep going
15:40Price just made a big push in our favor and now is kind of consolidating, moving sideways
15:45It's starting to work its way back towards our line yet again
15:47That's what we want to see right now
15:49Price has been fluctuating between 2,000 3,000 4,000 2,000 3,000 for this example here
15:56There we go
15:56We just got a another swing low
15:59Price just got back to another pivot point
16:01This is our moment to take our stop loss and adjust it below this last swing
16:05Now, we just turned our risk from $420 to a profit of 1,500
16:08We just locked in our new stop loss
16:12So, worst case scenario, if price comes back down and violates our line, we take a profit of 1550
16:19As price continues to create swings along this line, we're going to continue to move this stop-loss along this line
16:27So, we just went from a initial loss of 420 to a profit of 1550
16:33Let's do the same scenario over here in the smaller account trade
16:34Price made a big push to the upside and now we can see this kind of continue to move sideways gravitating towards that line
16:46There we go
16:46Price gave us that same swing, that same higher low
16:48We're going to adjust our stop loss to go below this last swing
16:52Okay, so we're in the same position on either instrument
16:55We've locked in our worst case scenario, which is a profit, but we still want to see the maximum results for this trade, the maximum move, the entire trend
17:03So, we're staying in until price violates
17:08Let's keep going
17:08Now, bonus
17:08Remember, we talked about this pivotal moment when price gets to the line
17:13This is an entry
17:15If you didn't take this position over here, this could have been a second entry, another pivot point
17:19If you missed this one, you could have gotten in here
17:22Same on the left side
17:22Same on the right trade over here
17:24This could have been another entry
17:26You would have done it exactly the same
17:27Entry here if price violated would have been around that $420
17:31Same scenario for here would have been that $42
17:33But we're staying in
17:35We want to see this trend play out for its entirety
17:37Okay
17:37Price is pushing back to the line and still respecting
17:42Price is pushing back to this line
17:42Are we going to have to get ready to close now? As price created these higher lows, we're going to continue to move this stop along each swing low here
17:49Locking it in
17:52We're locking in profits every time price swings lower, but continues to respect the line
17:55Okay, price just gave us another swing low
17:57We're taking that stop loss and moving it up here
17:59We adjusted our stop loss yet again to this new pivot point
18:03We're going to continue to stay in as long as price respects
18:07Okay, price created yet another swing
18:09Every time it creates a swing low closer to that line, we're adjusting the stop higher and higher and higher
18:13There we go
18:14Locked it in
18:14Let's keep going
18:18There we go
18:18So, we can still see our entry and where the price is at now
18:21Okay, price created yet another swing low
18:22We're going to adjust that stop
18:24Now, always remember when adjusting the stop, it needs to be in an area where price has to violate the line entirely in order for our stop to be hit
18:31So, you don't want to ever put it above the line
18:34It always needs to be on the other side of the line
18:35That's how we know that the trend is over and price has violated the line
18:38Confirm
18:38Let's keep going
18:41Okay, now let's see if this is going to create yet another pivot point
18:46And you can see price has just violated the line
18:48Let's zoom in a little bit closer so you guys can see this
18:49We want to see price close on the other side of the trend line for us to manually close our position or for our stop loss to just simply be hit
18:56Let's see out of one of these two scenarios what happens
18:58All right, price just closed on the other side of the safety line
19:01We can close our position manually
19:03As we have just seen, price violated the line
19:04I'm going to manually close this trade because our line was violated
19:08We are up $4,000 exactly
19:11Position closed
19:11Profits locked in
19:14Insane upside
19:14So, this was an entire trade that we got to watch play out from start to finish
19:18entry here, exit here, and the downside was $420
19:24We just made $4,000 in this scenario
19:24An absolute cheat code to trading
19:27We got in on the trend because price got to a pivotal point
19:31We stayed in to the move, even through all of these swings, these highs, these lows, price pushing up high, consolidating, moving sideways, but still respecting the line
19:39It wasn't until price violated the line that we decided to close this position
19:43I want to finish out the scenario with this smaller account size trade so that we can see both these trades all the way through
19:50All right, same scenario over here
19:52As soon as price violates this line, we're closing our position
19:54Boom
19:56In this scenario, the price hit our stop and we closed out of our position with a profit of $387
20:02Our downside to this small account was $42
20:05We just made $387
20:09This is the highest possible upside with the lowest possible risk we had to take on
20:13So you guys were able to see start to finish, entry to exit, how much we had to risk, and how we stayed in this trade
20:18So now I challenge you to do this
20:20You've seen the walkthrough
20:21[music] Go to your charts, open up Trading View, any instrument, and I want you to completely clear everything off the chart
20:26Naked chart, just [music] price action
20:27Do your top 10 analysis
20:29Identify your trends
20:29Make sure each trend line connects from the higher time frame
20:32Go all the way to your designated time frame
20:34You can [music] choose
20:34You can trade on the 1 hour, you can trade on the 15-minute, you can go all the way down to the five minute
20:38But make sure you continue to follow those rules from the [music] top analysis
20:41But then you'll know where your trend lines are
20:44Wait for price to get to that pivot point and then enter your position
20:45Make sure you [music] calculate that lowest possible risk, that small loss that you'll take if price violates the line and doesn't end up respecting
20:52And then see it all the way through
20:53So I challenge you to do that and then come back to this video, drop a comment, and see how that played out
20:57Was this the actual cheat code to trading? Go try it for yourself.
