00:04It's time for the FOMC report
00:09Are you ready? Are you excited? Are you going to make money today, or are you going to lose money? It's in your hands
00:14You have to take control of your money, not just scramble around for profit but scramble to protect your money
00:24Take control of it
00:27Understand the market, have control of your emotions, understand risk management, and get everything in place for every eventuality
00:34What if, why, what, wherefores, all the rest of it
00:37Well, very, very shortly, we are going to get an announcement
00:42We're going to find out the rate from the FOMC—whether rates are going up, coming down, or if there's going to be a pause—and then we'll see the immediate reaction
00:52Then, straight after that, well, there'll be a little bit of a delay, about 30 minutes
00:56Then we'll get the presentation, and we'll hear directly from Kevin Walsh, the Fed Chair
01:03So today is a very, uh, explosive day because we've just had the Clarity Act fail miserably
01:11Now we've got, um, the Federal Reserve expecting to raise rates, except the market has already priced it in
01:20So, how's it going to go if the rate goes up? How's it going to go if the rate actually pauses? Well, I think we do need to raise rates
01:30I think we do
01:32Inflation is, uh, getting carried away again
01:36However, I think a short, sharp shock will do the job
01:39If we don't get a rate hike and stay at the current level for longer, that will cause more damage to the economy
01:45Economy
01:52And of course, if we do get a rate hike and it's suggested that it's a short-term shock, that means rates will start coming down and that means things will look up
01:58So, there are those today saying if the rates go up, it's good for the stock market, bad for the stock market—depends on what you're invested in
02:06Good for crypto, bad for crypto
02:08Everyone's got an opinion on this
02:10I prefer to focus on the businesses that I own, how they're growing, how they're expanding
02:15If the market goes down, what am I going to do? If the market goes up, what am I going to do? That's what I'm focusing on—things that I can take control of, not what the market is going to throw at me
02:27You need to be ready for all situations
02:31We are, and we do have Bloomberg and CNBC, as you can see, waiting to present to us
02:37We will pick up on all of that
02:39Please tap the like button
02:42Have you all done that? And consider subscribing as well
02:45We'd love to have you, uh, as part of our family
02:46Fantastic
02:48Thank you very much indeed
02:50Now, straight after today's event, this will be the closing bell
02:55Straight after this, we are going into our fundraiser event
02:58We're raising money for charity tonight
03:01We're helping kids in America who have no food when they go to school
03:07This is our event
03:10It's a licensed, official registered charity with Google and YouTube
03:12There are no expenses from me, from YouTube, from Google, from credit cards, nothing
03:19And this fundraiser itself has a 7% expense ratio
03:24which makes them one of the most efficient charities in the world
03:28And tonight, we're raising money for these kids
03:30We've already paid for over 10,000 plates of food on our show
03:38It hasn't even started yet
03:40We expect thousands of people to join us, including the biggest investors, the top fundraisers in the world, and even a special guest from Star Wars
03:47It's all happening tonight
03:50Very, very exciting
03:52So, you don't want to miss this event
03:53It's something to behold
03:55It's going to be wonderful
03:56We do these fundraisers for people who come to us, and we select them
04:00Depending on your credentials, it must be a really good cause with a very high efficiency rating, and we do help
04:04People from time to time like this
04:09All right, so let's get ready now
04:13What I would like to do is, if you'd like, we can have a live phone-in
04:20You can be live on the phone tonight; you can call in and be part of it
04:24If you want to be live on the show, let me know
04:26Do a super chat and say, "I'd like to call in," and I'll send you the link so you can be on the show
04:31We can have up to 10 people at once, discussing the FOMC report
04:37I'd love to have 10 people on the screen with me
04:40So, if anybody would like to start it off, do a super chat and say, "I'd like to call in." Then I can verify who's calling in, and we can have you on the show
04:48All right, so let's get ready
04:50It's going to be an amazing day
04:52I hope you're all prepared
04:53Let's go through
04:55The markets
04:56Let's look at everything and see how the market behaves
04:59Well, as usual, more often than not, I've beaten the market again, up 5.5% today in the market
05:04The S&P is barely up, at 28%
05:09So, yes, we've beaten the market again
05:13This is my real money, my real positions
05:15I've got over a million dollars now invested, but I'm not a millionaire yet
05:18Will I become a millionaire today? We're about 60 grand away from five hundred thousand to a million dollars
05:22We're not there yet
05:25The S&P is at 28
05:29Virgin Galactic, I did warn this morning that Virgin Galactic would go down
05:31It has, so be careful
05:34Rates going up are the last thing this company needs
05:37SpaceX rallied today, nearly 6%
05:40I believe this could reach 70, or even 200 dollars, in my opinion, as soon as Friday
05:43It's really
05:46Starting to move
05:49So, there we go
05:52Rocket Lab the other way
05:55There's a bit of argy-bargy between SpaceX and Rocket Lab over their Spectrum deal, but uh, it's not a problem
06:02Rocket Lab is in no way uh going to lose this deal
06:04In fact, they might be on for another deal that might be taken away from Blue Origin, uh, Space Force
06:12So, everything is going great for Rocket Lab
06:14Just the people that buy Rocket Lab tend to uh trade in and out of it all the time and don't really know what they own
06:21Doesn't bother me
06:22It just allows me to buy more
06:23The company is growing
06:25I like it, and I'm very happy
06:26I've got over half a million invested in Rocket Lab
06:28Palvont is too expensive
06:30Gold hedging
06:32I don't do gold
06:33I don't do hedging
06:34I don't do stops
06:35Losses
06:36When the market goes down, I love it
06:37I'm always in
06:38I'm always staying in
06:40I don't get out
06:42I don't protect my money, I don't believe it
06:43I well, I protect my money by buying great businesses, but I don't mind when the market corrects or goes down
06:47I remain in
06:49I always remain in the market
06:52It's very rare that I come out of the market
06:54Even though I do predict a pullback in October, if not a crash, a carry trade could come on Friday because we're going to get rate hikes again in Japan, and of course, we all know about that
07:06At least I hope you do
07:08Anyway, Regetti Computing is down 1.39%
07:11Amazon is down 0.3%
07:14Apple is up 4%
07:16Nphase Energy is down 3.46% because rates are going up
07:18People can't put solar panels on their roofs
07:21It's a good..
07:23Opportunity to buy, potentially, I would say, Nphase Energy
07:26Not financial advice
07:28This is just my thought
07:30So, I'm looking at it as a $100 stock in waiting, but we need rates to come down
07:33However, by the time the rates come down, the stock will already be up
07:37We're anticipating rate hikes, and because rate hikes mean people can't afford to put solar on their roofs, the stock of the number one solar company, Nphase Energy, will go down
07:45Coca-Cola, even being a defensive stock, is down when the market is in this state
07:50I want to buy some more Coca-Cola; I have half a million dollars ready to buy, but not at this price
07:58I've already made money, and I'm not going to give it back
07:59Seems a bit pointless, really, doesn't it? Texas Pacific Land has gone down
08:02Chevron Oil is down
08:06Today, 2.3
08:08Uh, so much uncertainty with Iran, but we could even see $150 a barrel
08:14Um, when Trump says, uh, the day of the election, the day after the election, guaranteed the war will be over and the rates will come down, it's just ridiculous
08:27How you can say that, I have no idea, without laughing
08:30You can't predict the day after the midterms that oil will come down, the war will be over
08:38I mean, I can imagine Iran sitting around going, "Okay, what time would you like that to happen?" Oh, the day after you win the election
08:45Okay, we'll make sure we do that then
08:47I can't believe anybody's that stupid to believe that
08:49But anyway, some..
08:50People are, uh, but we are investors here
08:52We're not listening to that
08:55Polkadot up 1.6
08:57Momentus up 2.42
08:59Tesla up 1.43
09:01I like Tesla
09:03Can't wait to own it through SpaceX
09:04I'm not going to be paying for it, though
09:06Google is going to go down to $80
09:09Um, Google is up today
09:11What, 0.12? Microsoft down 0.72
09:14Meta is up 0.99
09:16It's going to $800, but not in these conditions
09:18Nvidia is up today, but it's too close to my comfort zone
09:23As you can see, if you are a member and pay 20 bucks, you can sponsor and put your favorite stock on the screen, seen now by over 18 million people, and it often ranks number one
09:35Yesterday, we were number one in the world for XRP
09:36We beat every channel in the world
09:39So if you want your stock on the rundown, 20 bucks as a member, you can
09:42Get it there
09:44Freeport is up 3.3
09:46Walmart is up 0.19
09:49Robinhood is down 4.5
09:51Way [snorts], too expensive
09:53US rare earths would like to buy some of this if it went under 10
09:55Uh, Comfort is up 1.75
09:57Kushner is up 8.3
09:59And now we come on to our crypto and our speculative assets
10:02Vertical Aerospace is up 6%
10:04Yesterday, we're at 50
10:06Be very, very careful
10:08This is technically bankrupt now
10:10And with rates going up, I don't know why anyone is buying this today
10:13I’d be out of that if I had any chance
10:15Uh, I'm not in it anyway, and I wouldn't be in it
10:17I think it's a sector that is dying
10:19It is the future, but at the moment, most of these companies are going to go bust because they're right at the beginning of their journey, and with rates going up, they just can't
10:23Survive
10:28Taiwan up 1.3%, and now we come on to crypto
10:33Of course, we had the, uh, we had the Clarity Act yesterday
10:38Why anyone would buy this at the moment and think it's cheap, I don't understand that
10:42Just because there's a 0.00 doesn't make it cheap
10:45That's not how you value assets
10:49But people are saying it all over social media, "Oh, come and buy it now." I don't think it's a good idea
10:52But what do I know? I've only beaten the market four years in a row and called every single position
10:56$75,000
11:01We're down—minus, uh, we're down 22% on Bitcoin
11:05Imagine if you bought it at $120, nearly two years ago
11:07You could have made more money by buying Coca-Cola
11:09Think about it
11:11And if you keep doing the right thing for the longest time, you beat the market
11:13Beat everyone anyway
11:16XRP is down to 2.66
11:19Millions got liquidated yesterday, lost all their money
11:21They can't come back, but there are others who now hold all the money
11:23Okay
11:26And they're still selling and still driving it down
11:28So, please be careful
11:32Ethereum is down as well
11:36I did actually say that XRP would go down to 80 cents, if not 50 cents, and it's getting pretty close to that now, isn't it? Anyway, there we go
11:41There's the rundown
11:45So, we've got just a short while to go—45 minutes to the announcement—and then we have the presentation
11:50The presentation is what’s most important
11:53We're all expecting a rate hike
11:55Doesn't mean we're going to get one
11:57Kevin Walsh is a little bit different than..
12:00Jerome Powell
12:01We can read Jerome Powell
12:02We can't read Kevin Walsh yet
12:03We're not sure how to interpret his comments
12:06The market is priced in a rate hike
12:10However, what happens if we get a rate hike? Will it react badly? Will it react positively, because it's what we expected? Or will it just confirm expectations and cause a sell-off? I mean, no one knows
12:23Um, okay
12:26Thank you very much indeed, Sensei
12:28The FOMC newsletter from our terminal is out if you want to see it
12:32I absolutely do
12:36Why am I not seeing Discord? Uh, for some reason, I came out of Discord
12:40That's not good, Sensei, is it, mate? I came out of Discord
12:43We need to fix that
12:47Okay, so let me, uh, let me come back into Discord and pick that up
12:51I missed that
12:53Thank you very much indeed
12:55Right, we've got our cheat sheet
12:56We've got our cheat sheet, and let's have a look at this
13:00Oh, lovely
13:05I can really, uh, the way you've laid that out, Sensei, uh, is terrific
13:07Terrific
13:10So, let me, uh, get this up on the screen
13:12We're going to go through the deep dive now of the FOMC, whatever everything might mean
13:18So, let me bring you over to this screen while I go over to this screen and do it when you can't see it
13:22Very professional
13:26Uh, let me just click in here
13:30Paste
13:33All right
13:35Very, very good
13:37Very good
13:38Right
13:40OK, let's go back to here and let's do our cheat sheet from our newsletter, from our very own terminal
13:42September the 16th, hot off the press, a few moments ago
13:48Let's get ready to share the news from our award-winning
13:51Newsletter and our very own terminal—very, very good indeed
13:58A rival Bloomberg terminal at a fraction of the price
13:59No ads, no commercials, no opinions—just good quality information directly from the sources
14:04Not AI, not our opinions
14:09We pay to pull the data from the pool
14:13That's what we're showing you
14:15It updates second by second
14:17So, let's get to it
14:19Let's read it for you
14:21The Fed could raise interest rates today
14:22That's what we're expecting, and crypto could still rally
14:25How about that? Didn't expect to hear that today, did you? We could see crypto rallying on a rate hike
14:33That would be the opposite of everything that we've been talking about these last few years
14:38It could happen
14:40There is There are reasons why it could
14:41We'll talk about it
14:43That sounds contradictory
14:44It most certainly is
14:45But markets react to surprises
14:47They do
14:50Things can go in all kinds of ways and surprise us
14:53If investors already expect a hike, the bigger question is how many more increases might follow
14:58So again, if we get a short, sharp shock and information that this is a one-time done deal and then we're coming down again, that could give us a rally
15:09But remember, you still have to remember the, um, the carry trade, those who will tell you that doesn't matter, it's not important
15:18Carry trade is good for XRP
15:21They are, uh, self-promoting, whatever it is they want to promote
15:24That's not true, and we don't buy into any of that stuff
15:27So, we're not going to follow into any of that
15:30That's a bit of nonsense
15:34There are also oil prices going up, inflation still rising, and other macroeconomic conditions around the world
15:37Inflation's going up, so let's not get too excited if we get a rate hike and then suddenly crypto rallies
15:45We also had, of course, the Clarity Act fail
15:47So, is it really great? Anyway, as of September 15th, CME put the chance of a quarter-point hike at 92%
15:59That doesn't mean, though, that we're definitely going to get a rate hike
16:01I think we are
16:02I think we should
16:03Not because everybody else thinks so, but because the numbers tell me, and I believe they should
16:08We should have a rate hike
16:10It'll be interesting to see what Trump makes of that
16:15The Fed's target range is now 3.75 to 4.0
16:18My focus is on whether today's rate hike will be a one-off or the start of more increases, because a one-off is very manageable
16:27It's no issue at all
16:30We can afford a one-time rate hike
16:32Not a problem
16:34So, let's get to it
16:36Here's Kevin Waller doing his thing
16:38The decision and economic forecast will be announced at 1:00 p.m
16:41Central Time, so in about 39 minutes from now, we'll have it
16:48But that's not the most important thing
16:49The most important thing is the language used
16:53Kevin Waller is a bit different; we can kind of interpret Jerome Powell's tone and the overall tone of the statement
16:55We don't quite get that with Kevin Waller
17:03Things are different, so we need to be careful
17:09Now then, Uh, what do the latest spending figures tell us, where are we right now? Well, today's retail figures showed US retail and food service spending rose 1.2% in August after falling 0.5% in July
17:27Consumers are still spending
17:30Overall, we like to say the economy is okay
17:34It's not great, it's not bad, it's okay
17:37Consumers are still spending, but they are putting a lot of that money on credit
17:41Okay, so consumers are still spending, giving the Fed more room to focus on inflation
17:46There's an argument about inflation
17:49As we know, growth and spending can increase inflation, but with enough growth, we can outrun inflation
17:59Donald Trump says that, and he's right on that point
18:01That makes, uh, excuse me, that makes an..
18:07Urgent rate cut, harder to justify
18:10Some of the increase may reflect higher prices rather than people buying more
18:16Exactly, that's a very, very good point
18:20Now, what could move crypto today? Like we just said, crypto could go up today on this even if we get a rate hike
18:28It's quite surprising, right? You wouldn't have expected that, but that is exactly what we're saying
18:33Did I just click on this? I thought I clicked on it
18:41Um, let's delete it
18:47I just deleted that
18:48Yeah, ignore me
18:50I've gone mad
18:52Right
18:53Let me zoom in just so you can see
18:55So, I'm going to share this on the screen
18:57The table below explains the main outcomes and how markets could react
19:03The important comparison is what investors expected before
19:06The announcement
19:09So, let's have a quick look
19:12Here we go
19:15Decision: quarter point hike
19:17Fewer increases needed
19:19Crypto could rally on this relief
19:23So, let's say that again: a quarter point hike, fewer increases expected
19:29In other words, the good terminology we hear from the Fed, we hear from Kevin Walsh, and he says one rate hike, but we're not expecting any more
19:39I mean, will he give us that language? He doesn't tend to talk like that, but we'll see
19:43During [snorts] Jerome Powell certainly didn't do it
19:47Are we going to see a one-time shock? This could be a crypto rally, but remember, there's no good news on the Clear Act
19:56Now, Brian Armstrong came out and said everything was great and we'd won the vote
20:01Uh, to try and pump up Bitcoin, which is utter nonsense, a complete lie
20:06And I called him out on it
20:08When I said no, they've lost the vote at the same time
20:10I had the same information that he did when he announced it as a win, just so we can promote Bitcoin
20:16It was awful and terrible
20:18So, are we really going to get a rate hike? Sorry, are we really going to get a rally on crypto? A lot of trust was burned last night
20:25So, a quarter-point hike, but more increases are expected
20:31The term and the language are, "We're going to give you a rate hike, and there's more to come." Crypto and stocks could fall
20:38Not all stocks could fall
20:41Money's got to go somewhere
20:43I think it will go into Rocket Lab and SpaceX, personally
20:45Some stocks will go
20:47Down, some stocks will go up
20:49It depends if they're really big in borrowing and what their cash positions are like
20:52No change
20:55They surprise us; they come out and say a pause
20:58Now, remember, a pause for longer is more painful than a short shock
21:01It is
21:04And if they didn't raise rates, they would probably hold them steady for longer
21:06So, no change
21:09Inflation is easing
21:11Is inflation easing? Well, in some areas it is, but because of this bloody war, no, we're all bloody losing money again, and everyone's paying for it — an unnecessary, pointless war, as we now know
21:22It's got nothing to do with nuclear bombs
21:24The Iraq war had nothing to do with nuclear bombs, we all proved that
21:27And even in England, we had Tony Blair
21:30British Prime Minister
21:32Um, people say he should be in prison because they knew there were no weapons of mass destruction
21:37This is the same thing
21:39It's another power grab, another change in the world order
21:42That's what it's really about
21:43And also, rooted in oil and America selling its own oil
21:47The whole thing has been a load of nonsense, and it's cost everybody a fortune
21:51But don't worry, the government and the president have made loads of money on all the trades
21:57They've done very well out of it
21:59Anyway, inflation is easing
22:03Well, it is, apart from oil
22:07So, essentially, you could argue that we don't require a rate cut, sorry, a rate hike
22:10However, the war has to end
22:12Well, too late for that
22:13The war isn't..
22:15Going to, isn't going to end in the next 5 minutes, is it? So, um, is it ever going to end? There's no, there's no end in sight
22:21So, if we have inflation easing, a positive surprise could lift prices
22:27It could, but not necessarily, though
22:30It might mean the Federal Reserve has lost control and they haven't got the courage to do the right thing
22:32I don't know
22:35But a positive surprise could lift prices
22:37No change
22:40On the other side of the coin, doubts about the Federal Reserve controlling inflation—that's what I was about to say
22:46[snorts] The initial rally could fade quickly or turn into a sell-off
22:48I agree
22:51These are Sensei's thoughts, and I have to agree with that completely
22:58Let's go back to our chart over here
23:00So, that's what could happen
23:01So, it's in..
23:07Summary, explain that again
23:12A surprise could spark an initial rally, but those gains could fade quickly if investors think the Fed is falling behind or failing to take inflation seriously
23:17If Powell cannot explain why holding is justified, markets could question its commitment to controlling prices or worry that political pressure is influencing decisions
23:30That loss of confidence could push longer-term borrowing costs higher and send stocks and crypto lower
23:35We all understand that, right? Half an hour to go before the numbers are out
23:40Um, everyone tap the like button
23:43Um, that would be absolutely wonderful
23:45Can everyone tap the like button? And also consider subscribing as well; that would be absolutely wonderful
23:48There you go
23:51Oh, hello
23:54Hang on, I'm pressing the wrong button here
23:56There you go
23:57Try that again
23:59There's the like button
24:00All right
24:01Tap the like button and consider subscribing
24:02Have you all done that? All right
24:04Terrific
24:06Now, coming up right after this, this will be our closing bell show
24:08There'll be no Discord event tonight because we are raising thousands of dollars
24:14We've already raised 10,000 meals for children in America who go to school every day without food
24:18Look at this, we are doing this
24:22We have a star guest from Star Wars joining us
24:25I told you about it
24:27My godfather was Kenny Baker, the man who famously played R2-D2
24:30You've got a special guest today—you don't want to miss it
24:33Right
24:36Very, very cool
24:40Um, we've already raised the amount live on the screen with no deductions
24:43Remember, no deductions
24:47Uh, 1,023
24:50Now I know that we've raised at least four times that amount inside because people have been donating directly
24:54All right, it's better if you do it on the screen because everyone can see it, and it encourages others to donate
25:03Now, even if you can't donate tonight, just by showing up, we are expecting thousands of people, some of the biggest figures in investing are coming along
25:12So, here is the link to the event twice in the chat
25:15Make sure you go there right now
25:18You can make a donation, or you can simply tap the like button, share it, and click reminder
25:25It's on the events channel, the music
25:27This show will take you straight to it
25:30You can't miss it
25:33And we are raising money for children to buy their food, and the money is going directly to them
25:36There's no credit card fees, nothing for me, nothing for YouTube, nothing for Google, no credit card fees
25:42You can also claim tax back as a tax write-off as well
25:44It's going to be a very, very special night
25:46All right, make sure you join us for that
25:49Okay
25:52I keep doing this; I keep pressing the wrong button
25:55I don't know what's wrong with me today
25:57Anyway, so what the Fed expects next: the summary of economic projections, or SEP, is the Fed's outlook for the economy
26:06It answers four questions: Will inflation fall? Will the economy keep growing? Will unemployment rise, and where might interest rates go? Today's forecast update, based on those published in June, the table below explains what to look for and why it could hurt the markets
26:30These are forecasts, not promises
26:33So, let's have a little look and see how this is affecting everything
26:35All right
26:38So, they bring it on the screen
26:40Let me zoom in
26:42There we go
26:43Right
26:45Let me go over to the screen here
26:47Okay
26:50So, what to watch in the Fed forecast? Well, inflation
26:52First of all, we're watching for inflation
26:55Obviously, it's more bullish if forecasts are lower, meaning less pressure for further rate hikes
27:08So, on inflation, we are more bullish if forecasts are lower, indicating less pressure for future rate hikes
27:11However, we become more..
27:13Bearish if the forecast is higher and there are more risks of future rate hikes
27:16That's why I say a short, sharp shock is better and shows the indication that we're bringing it as a one-time deal is better than leaving rates on hold for longer
27:29But we do need to know that if rates are going up, it's a short, sharp shock—try and say that
27:37So, the next question is about economic growth
27:41Well, it's bullish if growth holds up as inflation eases, with less risk of recession
27:47Well, we are seeing that, other than the issue with oil
27:50Okay, so growth holds up as inflation eases
27:53Now, of course, growth is affected by oil because increased expenses from oil slow down growth
27:59All right, and oil and everything else—it's more bearish; however, if..
28:04Growth weakens while inflation stays higher and harder for the Fed to help
28:09That's the problem
28:14The Fed will also be looking at unemployment
28:19Remember their dual mandate: if jobs stay broadly stable, consumers can keep spending, which is a bullish signal
28:26On the more bearish side, a sharp rise in unemployment, weaker spending, and greater recession risk
28:34And lastly, interest rates—fewer future hikes than investors feared could potentially be a relief, which is bullish
28:42But on the negative side, more rate hikes or hikes for longer than expected
28:46Remember, I said that holding rates up for longer is actually more painful than a short, sharp shock
28:52So that is what we're focusing on
28:54Okay, let's..
28:57Continue
28:59So, read the forecast together
29:02The strongest combination is inflation falling while the economy keeps growing and jobs remain stable
29:09Lower inflation is less reassuring if it comes alongside a sharp economic slowdown
29:15And even an improving outlook may disappoint investors if they expect something better
29:19Exactly
29:23This is the problem with bond rates changing
29:28Elon Musk's X earnings are 6%
29:32I mean, you could just be all out and earn 6% right now after, you know, I've had a record-breaking year, up 300% this year
29:37I've outperformed every metric and now earn 6% with no risk
29:39I could certainly do that, couldn't I? Anyway, how to read the dots—this is important
29:47So, each dot represents one official
29:50View on where rates should be at the end of the year
29:53It is an opinion, not a commitment
29:56The middle projection, called the median, gets the most attention
30:04Use the guide I’m going to share with you now below to interpret the 2026 dot, which reflects potential further moves
30:12It assumes today brings a quarter-point hike
30:15Then, check whether the 2027 forecast indicates rates coming down or staying elevated
30:26I have a little chart here to show you
30:30All right, let me share this on the screen
30:33I’ll zoom in as much as I can
30:35Again, if you are inside our terminal and have all this data, you can see for yourself
30:38We have just 26 minutes remaining until the rate decision
30:40Stand by, and then we’ll cover it all
30:43Live
30:47We'll have reactions, live opinions, uh, the live trades, and we'll also have the live conference as well
30:50So, please stand by
30:53So, 3.625, 3.625 or lower
30:56All right, on the dot plot, it means at least a quarter point lower by December
31:00That's what we're going to look for
31:02All right, if we get 3.875 on the median dot, no further net change by December, 4.125, another quarter point higher by December, and 4.375 or higher, at least another half point higher by December
31:25That's why the dot plot is so important
31:28All right
31:30Anyway, let's carry on with this, and let's go to the press conference
31:33So, at the press conference, our main question is simple: what would convince Powell that rates are high enough? Evidence that Inflation is easing would be more reassuring than a message that repeated, uh, that repeated increases are necessary, obviously
31:51So, who gets hurt most by higher rates? Because not everyone does
31:54Not everyone does
31:57So, now we're going to break that down
32:00Who gets hurt most by higher rates? Businesses with large debts? Not necessarily, though
32:06We've seen in the past, in fact, when rates were high, we were on a rally last few years, before rates came down, we were rallying
32:16So, businesses with large debts, variable rate loans or borrowing that needs refinancing soon face the most direct pressure
32:25We've spoken about it—that the ones that be affected the most are actually the Russell 2000
32:2980% of..
32:34The Russell won't even be here, uh, sort of 10 years from today
32:39Um, some medium-cap stocks as well
32:42Look at Virgin Galactic borrowing money
32:44Uh, they’re not in a great position, but this, in my opinion anyway, won't affect SpaceX and Rocket Lab too much
32:53It will affect, um, crypto
32:58All right? Because the way that works, it might affect my margin position today
33:01So more money goes towards interest, leaving less for hiring, investments, and profits
33:07Small companies and property businesses can particularly be exposed, as households with mortgages and other borrowing may find it more expensive
33:16Rates reset—savers may earn more interest
33:20Profitable companies with plenty of..
33:22Cash can usually, or better, be better protected than businesses constantly needing fresh funding
33:29That's important
33:32Expensive growth stocks can also struggle even without huge debts
33:35When safer investments offer better returns, investors may pay less today for future profits a company hopes to earn years from now
33:48Could crypto rise while stocks fall? Let's ask that question
33:54These are questions that you sent into the terminal, and we're answering them for you
33:58So, let's have a quick look
33:59Yes, Bitcoin and XRP do not have company interest bills
34:05So, I'll say that again: XRP and Bitcoin do not have company interest bills
34:10Their prices can rise on fresh buying, improved sentiment, or industry..
34:15Developments, even while data-heavy businesses struggle
34:21But crypto is not protected from higher rates
34:24Investors may have less spare money, and borrowing to trade becomes less attractive
34:29Cash or government bonds become stronger competing assets
34:35Research has found that US monetary tightening can hurt crypto through investors becoming less willing to take risks
34:43Okay
34:47Our bullish case for this is that the Fed signals fewer hikes, sorry, fewer rate increases than investors feared
34:52That could bring buyers back even if rates rise today
34:58So again, it's not the decision which we're going to get in 20 minutes
35:03What it is, is how we interpret that and whether it's only a one-time, short, sharp shock and how it's going to affect the market
35:09Our crypto today
35:12So XRP could benefit from that change in mood without anything changing about its underlying business uses or legal position
35:21So yes, today we could see XRP rally, particularly since XRP
35:29Crypto can outperform stocks, it certainly can
35:32But having no corporate debt does not make a token safer or less volatile
35:37Understand that
35:41Why the Fed wants to avoid another 2022
35:43Okay, we've seen it before
35:46We've been here before
35:48In 2021, the Fed expected much of the inflation surge to be temporary
35:54It proved more persistent, and the Fed raised rates rapidly in 2022
36:02Acting earlier can stop higher prices from becoming built into wage demands and business decisions, potentially avoiding harsher action later
36:11But raising, uh, uh, uh, rates too aggressively can also damage jobs and spending
36:21Higher rates cannot produce more oil
36:24The aim is to prevent an energy shock from spreading across the economy
36:28Wow, 20 minutes to go
36:33Um, I think what we'll do, we'll, uh, uh, just take a short break there, just for a moment
36:37I'm going to invite, uh, everybody to tap the like button if you wouldn't mind and also consider subscribing
36:45Now, why am I going to take a break? Well, literally four minutes, because in 20 minutes' time, we get the numbers
36:52All right, we get the numbers
36:55So, what I'm going to do now is, while I take a short little interlude, I'm going to invite you to get ready for something which makes all the difference—more than making money, more than..
36:59Anything else
37:04I'll come back to the deep dive
37:09Let me put this on the screen
37:11Here's our position
37:14We're just, uh, we're just selling now into this number
37:16Am I worried? Of course, I'm not worried
37:17I know exactly what I own
37:19I don't mind if it goes down
37:20I just buy more
37:22I've got 1.1 million invested
37:25So, let me share with you something really, really special
37:27In just a couple of hours' time, live on the Events channel, we are going to change the world today for thousands of kids
37:35We've already bought and paid for 10,000 meals
37:37Hungry kids in America, believe it or not, going to school with no food
37:44That exists
37:46You wouldn't believe it, but it does
37:48The charity is called No Kid Hungry
37:51It's on a music event in a couple of..
37:54Hours, music channel
37:56In a couple of hours from now, I'm expecting to raise a fortune, and we have a special guest as well
37:59As you know, my name is Martyn Lucas
38:01My godfather was Kenny Baker
38:03We have a guest from Star Wars joining us on the show tonight
38:06Really, really great
38:09I'm so, so excited to share it all with you
38:12Some of the biggest investors, biggest fundraisers
38:15We have one billionaire inside our Discord server, all joining in the event tonight
38:20We've already raised on the screen alone $1,000, but I can tell you it's four times that because some people have made direct donations
38:30Now, doing it this way is still direct
38:33There are no deductions, no commissions, no taxes, no credit card fees
38:36It looks great
38:38When it's shared on the screen, so, please do
38:39And in tonight's concert, you'll be able to, uh, request songs, voices, impressions, a special guest from Star Wars, all of it tonight
38:44You won't want to miss it
38:48So, you've got a choice right now
38:52As I take a moment's break, I'm going to give everybody this link
38:55Do it now
38:58Do it now
39:01Just simply, do it now
39:03There it is in the chat
39:06Do it now
39:08Look, click on that link in the chat
39:09Do it now
39:11What I want you to do is if you want to, uh, donate, you can, knowing 100% of the money goes to the kids in a very efficient, very, the most efficient fundraiser you're ever going to see on earth
39:22I raised millions for the Lions Club
39:24This was the global telethon
39:25This is, um, this is a..
39:27Jack Wheat Trophy
39:28I've got lots of these, and I've done Road Masonic functions all over the world
39:32So now we're going to raise money for children in America who go to school without food
39:36So if you can't donate right now, it's okay
39:39The event starts shortly
39:42Join me live for it
39:45You can request songs, participate in special events, and make all kinds of dedications
39:48All right, but what you can all do now is this: we have got 1,000 people watching, waiting for the Fed decision
39:57So, over the next few moments, before we bring the news and the decision, I want 1,000 investors to do something amazing
40:05If you can't donate but want to help the children of America, this amazing charity, just by showing up
40:16We'll push the video out to more people
40:18And what happens then is, when it goes out to more people, it will go viral and will find the people who can donate
40:27So, I’m going to show you a couple of images that we'll share with you tonight from this fundraiser
40:33These are the kids we're helping
40:36This is what it's all about
40:38We are donating this food, and we are taking care of these kids who have no food when they go to school
40:41All right, so what I’m going to do is clear these tickers off the screen
40:47We're going to take just a few minutes' break, only a few minutes
40:49I want you to see how this works
40:51These are the kids we're feeding, the ones who have no food when going to school
40:54Can you believe it? We've already..
40:57Paid for 10,000 meals
40:59So, right now, what I want you to do, you don't have to donate if you can't afford it
41:05But what you can do right now, every single one of you, you can—uh, what? 1,023
41:08There we go
41:111,023
41:14Now, what you can do right now is go there
41:17There's the link in the chat
41:19Do it now
41:21In fact, I'm going to write this
41:23Uh, do it now
41:25Uh, whoops-a-daisy
41:27Hang on
41:29Do it now
41:30That's it
41:32I'm going to pin that to the top for the next couple of minutes as I take a very, very quick break
41:34Uh, I'll be right back
41:36Way before the rate decision and way before anything else
41:41You're not going to miss anything, so don't go away
41:42Uh, let me pin that there
41:45Is anybody watching on their phones? Yes, quite a few of you are watching on the
41:47Phones as well
41:49So do it now
41:51Let me pin that
41:53If you are on the phones, do join us for the main widescreen TV show
41:56Pin the message
41:58Right, okay, that's done
42:00So what I want you to do is I want a thousand of you, because it's your kids, your family, your country, your future
42:07I want everybody, even if you can't donate
42:10We don't, we do—they do need your money
42:13We do need your money, but what we do need more than anything else is you to show up
42:16'Cause if a thousand people watch it live, and I'm expecting more than that, if that happens, YouTube will share it with the world
42:23It will go viral, and it will find all the people in the world who have the money to donate
42:27So, there is the Like button
42:29Go there now, share it, click on it, and get ready
42:33I I want you to subscribe to the channel
42:35It's a different channel; it's the music events channel
42:38Click the notification bell
42:40It's on at 4:00 p.m
42:42Central, just a couple of hours from now
42:44All right, and share it, and I want to come back and see that at least 300 likes—at least 300
42:51There's a thousand investors watching this right now
42:55Let me see if it's moved—245
42:59I'm going to give you four minutes to do it
43:02It's now at 256
43:05There we go
43:08We want at least 300 because there's a thousand high-net-worth investors watching this right now
43:10So, I will see you back right after this
43:12Don't go away
43:14It's your kids
43:16It's your future
43:19Do something about it
43:21I'll be right back for the live announcement of the Fed and the whole decision
43:23Go and do it right now
43:26I've dropped it in the chat
43:29Here we go
43:33In the meantime, just something to get you a little bit passionate, get you a bit excited about winning—always winning and always getting it done
43:36Here we go
43:47[music] There sits a man [singing] before the screen
43:55The candles flicker [music] [singing] red and green
44:00No crystal ball, no grand [music] disguise, just numbers dancing in his eyes
44:04The market whispers, [music] "Sell and run." Martin smiles
44:13The game has begun
44:16[music] [music] >> [music] >> SpaceX climbing through the night
44:27Rocket Lab is locked in flight
44:38Walmart [music] sitting quietly while rockets chase infinity
44:50No months before, no [music] prophecy
44:52Just one step ahead
44:55You see
44:57[Music] Money came
44:59He made his play before the crowd caught on the next day
45:01And somewhere [music] in the comments, a brave troll had appeared
45:08[Music] Do the opposite of Martin, and you'll make money every [music] year
45:19Martin slowly raises the portfolio, and the troll disappears
45:26[Music] Control
45:30Show the [music] receipts
45:33Rocket engines market beats SpaceX high
45:35[Music] Rocket Lab higher
45:38Another green candle thrown on the fire
45:41[Music] $1 million
45:46That's the decree
45:52And if it all goes wrong, there's always OnlyFans for me
45:57>> [Music] [Music] >> Red days [music] come and red days go
46:03The nervous cell, Martin says no
46:09He reads the numbers, [music] holds the line
46:15Give the bloody rock
46:17It's time
46:19And the trolls return
46:21As trolls will do with shots they barely understand, you're finished, Martin
46:26Sell it all
46:30He posts the gains, then hits battle
46:32Quack control
46:34Show the receipts
46:36Rocket engines market beats
46:39SpaceX high rocket lab higher, portfolio looking increasingly fire
46:52$1 million, that's the decree
47:05And if somehow the rockets betray me, there is another career opportunity—a camera, a bed sheet, a strategically positioned Bloomberg terminal
47:18But not today
47:21The rockets fly
47:22Martin's portfolio touches the sky
47:24Whack those trolls
47:26Let the green candles roll
47:28Elon sends the money, and Martin found gold from Walmart aisle to the edge of space
47:33$1 million
47:36[music] We're joining the race, and OnlyFans waits like a terrible plan for [music] the unlikely fall of the lake
47:45Get invested, man
47:54[music] [music] Okay, welcome back
48:08Thank you very much indeed
48:10I have to say, folks, I'm a little bit disappointed
48:13I am very disappointed
48:15Fourteen hundred people are waiting for the FOMC decision
48:21We're going to bring it to you live, and only a few people could be bothered to support and take care of our children in America
48:28Very, very disappointed by this
48:32And tonight, live on our show, a special guest from Star Wars
48:37We're going to raise thousands, in fact hundreds of thousands, of dollars for these children with no food
48:42And we've got a thousand people waiting to be told how to make..
48:46Money couldn't even be bothered to go and like this
48:49I'm very, very disappointed
48:51259 great people, 259
48:53But really, it was at 250 when I went away
48:56I wanted to see it go at least 300
48:59So a handful of people have done that, very disappointing
49:04We've now raised $1,050, which is four times that amount because I know people have donated directly, and we're feeding thousands of kids with that money
49:15Ten thousand plates, we're at a thousand, so we've gone past that now
49:18Every 50 dollars is 500 meals
49:21It's incredible what we're able to do
49:24Amazing people are helping us to do this
49:27And I'm so disappointed that one and a half thousand people, I want you to like this, this here
49:32Not this, not this
49:35I mean, uh, not not this channel, this
49:37Event here
49:38I've given its pinned to the top

50:47Get ready
50:49Make sure that you've rung the bell, subscribed, you're going to be there tonight at the music channel
50:52You're going to be there for the event [snorts] because if we get a thousand people, YouTube will make it go viral, send it out, and it will be significant
50:59So, you literally give children in America that are starving food by simply showing up
51:07Nothing comes to me, nothing to Google
51:08Nothing to YouTube
51:09Everybody wins
51:10All right, we're now at 284
51:12The event starts in 3 hours from now
51:14284
51:16We did it
51:18Thank God for that
51:21I was really doubting fellow man there for a minute
51:23314 still rubbish
51:25I mean, there's literally one and a half thousand people here
51:28That basically shows that, you know, a lot of people just don't care
51:32I don't like stuff like that
51:37I really, really don't, especially when we're trying to help kids that are starving, and it's free, and all you gotta do is show up
51:40300
51:42Oh, look at it now, 328
51:45Now, what happened? Why did it take so long to get it going? All right
51:47Now I'm okay
51:49Now I'm feeling a bit better
51:50All right
51:51Okay
51:52Good
51:53Let's get on with the Fed decision
51:54Thank you very much, all those great
51:56People that did that
51:58I'll see you there right after this event tonight
52:00You can't miss it
52:02Just by showing up, you could be feeding children that have no food
52:05Just by showing up
52:08If everyone's watching it, shares it out
52:10That's it
52:12It takes off and it finds the rich people who want to donate
52:15You can donate
52:16Lovely
52:17But you don't have to
52:19Just by showing up would be great
52:21Okay, we ended up with 328
52:24This is great, and the event hasn't even started yet
52:25333
52:27Right, here we go
52:29Five minutes
52:30Let me go and refresh the screen
52:32Okay
52:33Here it comes
52:37I'm going to refresh this
52:42Here we go
52:48We have the announcement moments away
52:53Okay
52:56[clears throat] Here we go
53:01What's going to happen now? Now, don't tune out when they
53:04Given the announcement because we're expecting a rate hike, okay? It's the Fed presentation on the half hour
53:08Thirty minutes afterwards, we get the actual announcement
53:13That is what's key
53:17So, here we go
53:18>> We're on standby
53:20>> What is this decision going to be? Put in the chat whether you think it's going to be a rate hike, rate cut, or something else
53:29All right, we're about to end the poll, so vote pretty quickly
53:30Uh, RB, yes, this—yes, this
53:33Yes, time is on the screen
53:34Yes, this is the clock
53:36This is the time, the date, the clock
53:37Often people really [laughter], I mean, anyway [snorts], thank you RB for explaining that to people
53:46I always think people get quite surprised by others not understanding that
53:48Anyway, so, overall
53:50[Snorts] Here we go
53:52We’ve got three minutes to go
53:53It’s a big one
53:55If you want to, in fact, we’ll wait for the decision, and then I’ve got some gifts for you, okay? Because I’ve got a few things you might like
54:05I’ve got some free money to give away
54:07Literally, I’m giving free money away
54:10I’ll explain that in a second
54:13Literally, I’m giving free money to help you unlock your XRP
54:16I’ll show you in a moment
54:18And I’m also giving you free shares as well
54:19Lots of them today
54:20It’s a giving day today
54:21Lots of giveaways
54:22So, stand by
54:24Three minutes to go
54:26Has everyone tapped the like button of this broadcast? Everyone done that? Okay
54:31[Snorts] Let’s hope so
54:32I’m really excited
54:34Make sure that you share this
54:36With the world, that fundraiser event
54:37So, here we go
54:40[Snorts] Two and a half minutes to go
54:45Okay, it's, uh, oh, by the way, I should probably share this
54:49Have we got time? Yeah, we've got one and a half minutes
54:50We're aiming to be the first 1 billion-channel in the world
54:55It will take another 12 years, but we're on the way
54:57Oh, thank you
55:00Thanks for your support, mate
55:02Let's have a look at the subscribers
55:07Look at this
55:08>> Martyn tips two pounds through super chat, about to hit it — a 0.25 hike, or is a 0.5 a possibility? >> A 0.5
55:14Bloody hell, that would crash the market if we get 0.5
55:16I really hope not
55:20I really, really hope not
55:22We could hit 120,000 subscribers today
55:26Can everyone subscribe? It'd be..
55:27Awesome, wouldn't it? Look at that
55:29120,000
55:30It's a milestone
55:31It would be really, really cool if we do
55:32Anyway, [snorts], here we go
55:35Stand by
55:38Here it comes
55:40One minute to go
55:43Where's it going to go? I bet you any money you like, uh, Bloomberg is on a bloody break
55:48They're always on a bloody break
55:50You watch
55:52I bet if I go there now, >> the messaging, >> what does he come out [laughter] and say? Because that's by far
55:53>> They're always on a break
55:54They caught me out today
55:56Um, maybe because I refreshed the screen
55:58I don't know
56:01Anyway, you ready? Here we go
56:04I mean, those of us who are mainstream Americans that want more things to cost more, particularly things that have interest rate involvement
56:06I mean, it's just going to make housing..
56:08It's more complicated
56:10There are a lot of knock-on effects, I think, that are going to really happen
56:12I think it's going to be a mistake for them to hike
56:14I agree with you
56:16>> Talk more about why, though, because what about the idea that it's the only way to kind of bring inflation more meaningfully back down? >> Well, what is the component of inflation? It's the cause, right? I mean, we all know there's a supply shock
56:29We all know there are problems with oil
56:30The problem is that the war in Iran has not been resolved
56:34It started, then it stopped, and it started again
56:36So, the conditions haven't changed, but now we're going to change the interest rate environment
56:39That's..
56:41It's a problem
56:43It's not something that they're paying attention to, what the set of conditions was just three or four months ago
56:46>> Yeah, I agree
56:49It's being driven by the supply side, energy prices, and what's happening with tariffs
56:52But the reality is, when it comes to the things that the Fed typically looks at, the savings rate is at near-historical lows
56:58And when you look at what's happening with wages, they're pretty much driven by the demand side of the economy
57:07>> 15 seconds to go
57:09>> I bet you I can get it before they do
57:11>> Inflation expectations are at 3.75
57:12We're expecting four
57:14In seconds
57:15Here it comes
57:17The rate decision, wage growth we've seen in five years
57:22Not a scintilla of evidence that That, whatever demand there is in the economy, is actually generating more inflation
57:27We think it will slow down next year
57:29We think inflation will come down next year, and the Fed really ought to just be patient here
57:33But it's kind of hard to be patient
57:34I mean, it's really a problem; that's why we need forward guidance
57:38There's forward guidance, and there's an awkwardness in forward silence, and that is what's left us in this predicament
57:44The Dow is almost unchanged as we get to Steve Leisman for the decision
57:46Steve, [music] >> I haven't got it
57:49Where is it? The Fed is raising interest rates by one quarter point in an unanimous 12-0 vote
57:52The new federal funds rate is now in a range of 3.75% to 4%
57:56The Federal Reserve says this action is Intended to support a timelier return to the Fed's 2% inflation target
58:06Inflation, the statement says, remains elevated
58:08The committee will deliver price stability, a repeat of the line in the last statement
58:11Uncertainty is elevated due to geopolitical developments
58:15Spending is resilient, productivity is strong, and [clears throat] capex is robust
58:20Job gains are keeping pace with workforce growth
58:22In the summary of economic projections, it shows one or more hikes—uh, one more hike, sorry, an additional hike is expected this year by 16 of the 18 members
58:32It appears that Jerome Powell, the Fed chairman, did not submit his forecast again
58:36Four of those 16 dots, by the way, see three hikes
58:39Two
58:42Forecast just one hike, eight
58:44That is almost half the committee, not quite
58:46See, the funds rate rising eventually to 4.4%, 4.38% next year
58:50See, the Fed stopping at 4.1%
58:52Going to crash
58:55See, the Fed funds rate declining until 2028
58:57These are the forecasts; they're not promises
58:59They're just the dots that people set for where they think the appropriate funds rate will be in the year
59:04There's a lower unemployment rate forecast that was lowered for this year to 4.1%, to 4.3%
59:10That's the average of the forecast
59:12Slightly higher inflation, 3.4%, from 3.3%
59:15The 2% target is not expected to be hit until 2029
59:18I'll leave it there
59:24Wow
59:30So, looking at this here again, the market reaction—not, I, I don't want to say—is muted, Kelly, but the..
59:32The market is kind of where it was beforehand
59:34Let me break this down
59:36I’m going out to Rick Santelli for his reaction on the bond market
59:38The market is speaking for itself
59:39Stock markets are up, bond yields are about where they were
59:41>> CNBC will try to make it sound better than it is, but I want to hear your opinion
59:44Of course, Rick, whether you agree or not, the stock market got what it wanted
59:52>> Yeah, I’m not sure the stock market really knows what it wants
59:54I’ll give you an example: today, Atlanta GDP for the third quarter increased from 4.4% to 5.1%
01:00:02It obviously indicates that the Atlanta Federal Reserve understands what the rate cycle looks like
01:00:09And to see the Dow down by 63 points now, you know, rising interest rates are a mixed blessing
01:00:12Some of it is for..
01:00:15Good reasons, like retail sales today
01:00:18Some of it isn't so good, like what's going on in the mini performance
01:00:22I like to look at the 2-10 curve here because everybody thought they were going to see this major drop in yields in the 10-year if they raised rates
01:00:30Well, uh, we're not
01:00:32We see that we went from 4.94% down a little bit
01:00:34Now we're at 4.95%
01:00:36On the 2-year, it was at 4.60%
01:00:37It went basically down a little bit, now it's back up
01:00:41Uh, actually, the 2-year has been the most aggressive
01:00:45So we are seeing a little bit of flattening
01:00:47We were at 35 basis points on the 2-10 spread, now we're at 32
01:00:50What does that mean in English? It doesn't mean that the 10-year rates aren't going down, but the 2-year rate is reflecting some of the sentiments by
01:01:01Some of the Fed officials are looking for more rate hikes
01:01:03Well, that's at least for the moment, propelling slightly higher yields in the short end
01:01:07If you look at all the intraday charts, you can see that we shot up close to 4.65% in the 2-year Treasury
01:01:16You can see what's going on with the 10-year; it continues to hover below that 5% level
01:01:21A close above 5% might be significant, and the dollar index might be the most interesting of all because it is really getting a nice little bid here, and that makes sense
01:01:31It had been a period of interest rate moves lately, and finally, the last point I’d like to make is that we need to continue to monitor corporate and sovereign issuance
01:01:43I think at this point, that’s one of the real-time dynamics to really understand some of the nervousness
01:01:49Regarding interest rates
01:01:51>> It was 12 to nothing, Rick Santelli, which means Kevin Worsh voted for the rate hike
01:01:55Do you think that Worsh and/or the Fed was bullied by the bond market? >> Uh, I don't think bullied
01:02:03I think symbiotic or reflective is probably the words I would use
01:02:10>> So, Enri, stand by, let’s bounce this around a little bit
01:02:13In fact, let’s bring in another market voice who just lowered his price target earlier, I think today
01:02:17Ed Yardeni, president at Yardeni Research
01:02:19Ed, does this act—can you raise it again now, now that they’re raising by a quarter and saying they’re going to try to do more to fight inflation this way? >> Well, I think all the signals, especially from the Summary of Economic Projections, indicate that this is..
01:02:30The beginning of a rate hiking cycle
01:02:35Yeah, they're talking about another rate hike before the end of the year and another one next year
01:02:39I mean, what they are doing is listening to the markets
01:02:43That's what the 2-year Treasury has been indicating for the past few weeks, and in addition, the futures market has been suggesting that it won't be just..
01:02:48let's, uh, let's talk about it
01:02:52Um, Sensei, uh, we've got Sensei in the chat
01:02:57Sensei, do you want to call in at all? Uh, so let's have a debate
01:03:00Sensei, are you able to call in? Uh, let me know if you are
01:03:04I'll give you the link
01:03:07Uh, so I'm going to share my thoughts now, but we will get to the most important part in 20 minutes
01:03:10Don't, uh, give up just yet, folks
01:03:11We are just..
01:03:12Building up
01:03:13What comes next is the most important thing
01:03:14So I knew I'd be going up today
01:03:17I could be a millionaire today on this
01:03:19Uh, but certain stocks are going down the toilet
01:03:21We'll show you right now
01:03:23Uh, Sensei, I've just dropped in the chat if you're able to call in
01:03:26So let me go through all positions
01:03:28This is exactly what I expected, and we're going to get more rate hikes
01:03:33We're going to see that pullback in October
01:03:34We're going to get a carry trade unwind
01:03:36Uh, I'm pretty confident of that, and uh, I'm all out of crypto
01:03:41I don't want to be anywhere near it right now
01:03:43Uh, but I will be buying it from you when it crashes
01:03:46So let's go through
01:03:47This is my portfolio
01:03:48We've beaten the market again
01:03:49Four years in a row, we've beaten the
01:03:51Market
01:03:52So we're up today
01:03:53We took, we came out of the S&P
01:03:56The S&P is going nowhere
01:03:58We made money on Coca-Cola, a defensive stock, but no longer defensive anymore
01:04:00We got out of crypto, went into SpaceX and Rocket Lab, and you can see the results for yourself
01:04:06The S&P is up 39 points at the moment, but I don't like it at all
01:04:12We're going to get more rate hikes
01:04:14So, certain stocks will do well, but crypto will hate this, and so will small caps, Russell 2000, and all that kind of stuff
01:04:22Virgin Galactic, I told you it would go down on the news
01:04:24It’s dropped big—about 3%
01:04:26It could drop below $2 now, and that could be enough to push it towards bankruptcy
01:04:33Be careful
01:04:36They cannot raise money now, and if rates keep going up—which is not likely— Guarantee, the very opposite of look what's happening on my portfolio of SpaceX and Rocket Lab
01:04:46Much better positioned for debt
01:04:49So let's come back down to here
01:04:51Virgin Galactic not looking good at all
01:04:53That's exactly as we anticipated
01:04:56Then we'll go on to SpaceX
01:04:59SpaceX, in my opinion, will be $170 at any moment
01:05:02We're going to reclassify by Friday
01:05:05Institutions have been buying and doubling up and doubling up
01:05:10Well, retail has been dumping and getting out and doing some really crazy stuff
01:05:14Institutions now control SpaceX
01:05:17I think this is $200 in waiting, and it could be $170 to $200 by Friday on the back of this, with the rebalancing at 2.8 up from 1.5
01:05:26They are able to sustain this
01:05:30So, this is good for them
01:05:32Anyway, Rocket Lab went down on the announcement and bounced straight back
01:05:39Why? Because they've got the cash
01:05:40They can also push through as well
01:05:43Look at my portfolio rallying
01:05:46I'm sorry, guys, but Martyn was right again, right? We talk about this a lot on the show
01:05:49It's easy to make money; the hard part is to keep it
01:05:51Rocket Lab is coming up, but I'm afraid Virgin Galactic could be in a lot of trouble here
01:05:56Let's carry on
01:05:58Gold bouncing around, doesn't know what it wants
01:06:00Like Mike Santoi said, the market doesn't know what it doesn't know
01:06:03All right
01:06:06Absolutely
01:06:08Um, let me just check something a second
01:06:10Let me just refresh this
01:06:11Hang on a minute
01:06:13Something weird on the screen
01:06:14What's going on here? Let me just refresh
01:06:16That
01:06:18Uh, let me refresh that
01:06:19Stay with me
01:06:20Okay, that's fine
01:06:21I had a bit of a scare there
01:06:22Uh, Regetti Computing is down
01:06:2527
01:06:27Amazon, I wouldn't be buying that
01:06:30Amazon, I wouldn't be buying the Mag 7
01:06:31Um, Apple is up 85
01:06:33I'm not really a fan of the Duo
01:06:35Do you think the Duo is any good? I don't, I don't like it
01:06:37Nphase Energy
01:06:39Well, this stock is in trouble now
01:06:41This is going to $100
01:06:42It could be a time to accumulate
01:06:44I like Nphase
01:06:46It has the best balance sheet on the stock market, alongside Texas Pacific Land
01:06:51It can survive all this
01:06:53However, it can't sell any flipping solar, not with rates going up
01:06:55That's the worst thing they need
01:06:57It does present a buying opportunity, though
01:06:59But you are going to lock up your money for a..
01:07:02While, unfortunately, Coca-Cola—people say when times get bad, defensives go up
01:07:07Not always, and I've explained why
01:07:09Coca-Cola is down today, and I'm about to buy half a million dollars of it, but not at this level
01:07:14If you want to know my trades, I share them exclusively inside Discord, not here
01:07:21We're not being front-run by anybody on YouTube
01:07:23Texas Pacific Land has gone down today, no surprise really, 4%
01:07:25Chevron Oil is down at the moment, but still more problems in that sector
01:07:31Pioneer up 3%, Momentus up 3%
01:07:34Tesla up 1.7%
01:07:38Google is up 0.3%
01:07:41Did Sensei say he was going to call in? I don't think he did
01:07:44I haven't seen him in the chat yet
01:07:46Microsoft is down 0.59%
01:07:48Meta is going up 1.56%
01:07:49They don't mind this, nor does Nvidia
01:07:51They don't… Mind it either
01:07:53They rallied on the last rate hikes
01:07:55Um, Walmart is up by 0.29
01:08:02Um, let me see if it's already reflected on the margin
01:08:05I was paying 4.5%
01:08:10Let's see if my margin has just gone up
01:08:12Let's have a look
01:08:14Buying power, margin, margin
01:08:16Uh, explore my margin
01:08:18I can afford it to go up
01:08:20I expected it to go up
01:08:22Uh, annual rate, view rates
01:08:24Here we go
01:08:25Four and a half percent
01:08:27They haven't adjusted it yet
01:08:28It's still 4.5%
01:08:30That could go to 4.75
01:08:32I would expect it to do so
01:08:33I can't see why it wouldn't
01:08:35Um, but I do think Robinhood will raise their margin
01:08:38The big question is, will Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter) do the same thing to match it? That'll be interesting
01:08:45Anyway, Walmart is up by 0.24
01:08:50Robinhood is going down because crypto is all going to fall off a cliff
01:08:52Cliff
01:08:54USA Rare Earth is down 0.91
01:08:57Comfort is up 1.92
01:08:59A Kushnet is up 79
01:09:01We've got 10 to 15 minutes to go before we hear from Kevin Walsh
01:09:04Please stand by
01:09:06You won't want to miss this
01:09:08Vertical Aerospace is up 5.65
01:09:10Remember what I said this morning? There'll be an initial rally; everybody will pump and then dump, so be very careful
01:09:13I would expect now that the likelihood of Vertical Aerospace and the EV industry—most of those companies—going bankrupt because it wasn't just one rate cut, but several
01:09:26Not a guarantee, but more than likely they can't afford it
01:09:31So, Vertical Aerospace is a pump and dump
01:09:33I would expect to see that decline later on today, but we'll see
01:09:36Anyway, Taiwan Semiconductor is up
01:09:38Crypto is down 34
01:09:41That's FTX
01:09:43Bitcoin is..
01:09:45It's up, uh, 28
01:09:47No idea why you're buying Bitcoin on that news
01:09:50I don't see why you would, but there you go
01:09:52XRP is down 1.65
01:09:54Everybody bought it on that news
01:09:56Don't know why
01:09:58I wouldn't have done that
01:10:00But you know, it's not you though, is it? It's money
01:10:03It's institutions
01:10:04It's big money pumping it up to dump it on you, and you're thinking, "Oh, great
01:10:08It's going to go up." This is not good news today for XRP
01:10:10It's not
01:10:14I think it's going to 80 to 50 cents, and I'm ready to buy it at 50
01:10:16But even then, at 50 cents, I would have to re-evaluate whether it was a good idea, especially with the Clarity Movement collapsing a lot worse than we first anticipated
01:10:25Ethereum popped on it but then started to go back down again
01:10:29So, anyway, there we go
01:10:31That's
01:10:33Where we stand right now, what we're going to do now is go over to the live Q&A
01:10:36I'm going to answer everyone's questions
01:10:38No one gets left behind
01:10:40Does everyone tap the like button? Okay
01:10:42Hey, is everyone clicked subscribe? Okay, so now what we're going to do is go to the live Q&A
01:10:46I'm going to answer everyone's questions
01:10:50But before I do that, I want you to do something for me — well, not for me so much, but for the children of America
01:10:56In just under two hours from now, I, the World Piano Man, will be performing live in my TV studio behind me for a global telethon for No Kid Hungry
01:11:08These kids here are going to school hungry
01:11:14If you've not seen this before, I've raised millions of dollars
01:11:16This..
01:11:18This is my Jack Welch trophy from the Lions Club
01:11:20I've got Rotary Clubs, Masonic Function Awards, all sorts of honors
01:11:23I've raised millions for charity
01:11:25We're going to do it again tonight, but this time the most efficient fundraiser I've ever done in history, and we have a special guest from Star Wars joining us tonight
01:11:34Alright, it's going to be good
01:11:37The biggest people in the world are joining me
01:11:39You won't want to miss it
01:11:40So, did I put the event in the chat? I think I did
01:11:43We're 50 minutes away from the conference, so please stand by
01:11:47It says, "Do it now." It's pinned in the chat
01:11:50If you want to donate, know this: 100% of the money goes to the kids
01:11:56None to me, none to YouTube, none to Google, none to MasterCard, none to Visa
01:12:00There is the link in the chat, 100%, and it's a very, very efficient charity as well
01:12:06Okay, we've already raised on the screen $1,000 before the event has even started
01:12:12Now, if you can't donate, as you can see, it's linked directly with Google and YouTube
01:12:19Even if you can't donate or can't afford it, we understand a lot of people are struggling
01:12:24All right, we get it
01:12:25What I want you to do is just show up, because by showing up, you are literally feeding children
01:12:30Why? Because YouTube is a search engine
01:12:33If a thousand people tune in for this event and more, and everyone shares it and shares it out, YouTube will see this is popular
01:12:38We'll show it to more people
01:12:42When they show it to more people, more people see it, and that helps
01:12:47We have money that supports charity events and will donate
01:12:52So, by you showing up, you are feeding the children of America who go to school hungry
01:12:56So how can not everyone do it? And it will come up right after this event
01:13:01Right after this event, we'll go live to it
01:13:04You'll be there
01:13:06Special guests, special phone-ins, and special dedications
01:13:08You can get your own songs
01:13:11If you want a favorite song for a wedding, a loved one, or whatever, you can get it
01:13:15It's going to be a very powerful, emotional night
01:13:16A lot of special stories being shared
01:13:18So, here is the link again
01:13:20I want to see now that we reach 400 likes
01:13:23There's literally 2,000 people watching right now
01:13:262,000
01:13:29I've dropped the link in there half a dozen times
01:13:32It takes..
01:13:34Nothing at all, just a reminder to click like, ring the bell, and be there for the event tonight
01:13:40Turn notifications on, it costs nothing
01:13:43And out of curiosity, tune in and see what happens
01:13:48Let's see us raise tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars for Kids of America
01:13:52Wouldn't that be great? All right, let me refresh it
01:13:54We're at 333
01:13:57I want 400 people before Kevin Walsh takes the stage for the FOMC
01:14:01There are 2,000 watching right now, 2,000 watching the FOMC report
01:14:07Let's have 2,000 watching the fundraiser
01:14:10So, 333
01:14:14We're now up to 344 out of 2,000
01:14:17What is wrong with you people? Look at that, 344
01:14:20There could be 2,000
01:14:22It's your opportunity to change the world
01:14:25Come on, do it now
01:14:28344
01:14:30It's now 347
01:14:32We've got 1,500 people donating
01:14:35Let me know in the chat where you're from
01:14:37So far, the most giving nation on earth is not America for the American kids
01:14:42Believe it or not, it's Britain, the United Kingdom
01:14:44I've seen more people from the United Kingdom and Scandinavia than I have Americans
01:14:49What is going on? Norway is in the house
01:14:55Write down in the chat where you're from
01:14:57Let me see where we're from
01:15:00We've got the Netherlands
01:15:02We had the Netherlands earlier today
01:15:04People in Europe are supporting the kids of America more than the Americans with all the money
01:15:11What's going on? What's going on? Let me scroll down
01:15:13Has anybody else left a message yet? Nobody yet
01:15:15Let me have
01:15:16Let's take a look there
01:15:18347
01:15:19Let's refresh it
01:15:20We're going to go to Kevin Walsh in a couple of seconds
01:15:22347
01:15:23Where are we now? 359
01:15:25Come on, everybody
01:15:27359
01:15:29There are 2,000 of you right here
01:15:31It's pinned in the chat
01:15:32Let's do it
01:15:34Right now, in the other channel, let's have a look
01:15:36There you go
01:15:37There it is
01:15:40There is the link
01:15:43Now then, I'm going to come to the live Q&A, and I'll come back in a minute to see how many people have done this
01:15:46It's such a special event tonight
01:15:48We're going to raise money for these children, and it cost you nothing
01:15:52You just have to click like and show up
01:15:54How easy is that? Right
01:15:58In the UK, yeah, there are more people supporting it from England than there are from America
01:16:01And it's an American
01:16:04Hey, Canada
01:16:07Canada is in the house
01:16:09I've just gone over and seen—this is the charity
01:16:11These are the kids
01:16:12We've paid for 10,000 of these plated meals
01:16:14We have just paid for 10,000 of these plated meals
01:16:17Think about it
01:16:20These kids no longer go to school hungry
01:16:24We have taken care of it
01:16:25All right
01:16:27Okay, let's go back over here
01:16:28There we go
01:16:29Canada
01:16:30I'm going to put it on the screen
01:16:31There you go
01:16:33Canada Defense
01:16:34Hi from Canada
01:16:35Where are all the Americans? Where are all the Americans? Come on
01:16:37What's going on? Why aren't you coming in saying, "We're here"—it's our kids
01:16:43Why aren't you doing this? I don't understand it
01:16:46359, 359
01:16:49What is it now? Uh, 363, 363
01:16:51Well, it's Canada
01:16:53It's Canada in the house
01:16:55Nobody since..
01:16:57uh, Canada
01:16:59>> has put in, they're here supporting it
01:17:02>> Charge Shop has become a member
01:17:03>> We got a new member
01:17:04I can't believe it
01:17:04All right
01:17:05Okay
01:17:06Well, you had your opportunity to change the world
01:17:07I don't know why
01:17:10I really don't know why
01:17:12Uh, the UK and Canada are giving money to the American kids
01:17:15Isn't that bizarre? Anyway, come on, America, you can do it
01:17:17Bloody hell
01:17:20I'll tell you what
01:17:22Will this cheer you up? Do you want a bit of this? Maybe we'll sing this tonight
01:17:26We got Germany in the house
01:17:29Germany is supporting as well
01:17:30East Tennessee
01:17:32There we go
01:17:33USA, baby
01:17:34JJ 8-Ball
01:17:35USA, this is for you
01:17:36Let's get you going
01:17:38Come on
01:17:40Here we go
01:17:41Oh, say can you see, [music] by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we [music] hold
01:17:52At the twilight last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars [music], through the [singing], the perilous fight
01:18:05O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming, and the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there
01:18:28O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? Okay
01:18:42Yes
01:18:55Someone just mentioned to me that you can't leave a comment unless you have been a subscriber for a week
01:19:09That's right
01:19:12It's done to protect the integrity of the charity
01:19:14When you do fundraisers like this, you don't want trolls
01:19:20>> 442 has become a member
01:19:21>> Thank you
01:19:22Thank you so much
01:19:24Yeah, you don't want trolls, scammers, and bad actors and stuff like that
01:19:25So, um, that is the reason why it’s set up like that
01:19:30But when the event starts tonight, everyone can watch, everyone can like, and everyone can make a donation
01:19:44If you make a donation, your name appears on the screen
01:19:47Okay, >> at Hofos tip 10 Polish zloty through super chat
01:19:50Crypto is running out of the cliff
01:19:53>> Yes, crypto is running off a cliff
01:19:55Yeah, let's have a little look
01:19:57At the moment, it's bouncing back up again, though
01:19:59Anyway, we've got 8 minutes to go
01:20:00Stand by
01:20:01Let's get ready
01:20:02We've got Kevin Walsh about to take the stage
01:20:03Is everybody set? Kenya, it's in the house
01:20:05I love it
01:20:07I love it
01:20:09Belgium is here
01:20:10Yeah
01:20:12Um, it's absolutely great
01:20:13Really, really great
01:20:15Um, so standby
01:20:17How long have we got? We've got seven minutes
01:20:19Seven, seven minutes
01:20:22Um, yeah
01:20:25When the event starts tonight, uh, you will, even if you only just subscribed, be able to donate on the screen
01:20:32Okay? You will be able to
01:20:35I'm just trying to, I'm just trying to think of something
01:20:37Um, uh, because I want people to be able to..
01:20:41trying to work this out
01:20:46We're trying to— we're trying to protect the integrity of the fundraiser
01:20:50We don't want bots
01:20:53We don't want trolls, idiots coming in and doing bad things
01:20:57That's why it's set up like that
01:20:58I'm just trying to think
01:20:59We don't want to ruin it for..
01:21:00Everybody, that's decent either
01:21:02Uh [snorts], I'm trying to think
01:21:05Um, I'm trying to think
01:21:13Uh yeah
01:21:18Anyway, uh, we've got five minutes to go
01:21:24I'm just trying to think that through because we want to protect the charity
01:21:30We don't want uh trolls and idiots coming in messing around on such an important event
01:21:33Um, I think uh if you do a if you do a donation, hang on a minute, a donation, that's not going to say your song request though, is it? We want you to request songs and shoutouts
01:21:49Okay, let me just change something a minute and let me have five minutes
01:21:51Let me just test this
01:21:54So, if you could help me test this, I'm going to [snorts] try something
01:21:56Let me just go back to the music, uh, the event channel
01:21:58Uh, if you could
01:22:00All, just do something for me
01:22:03I want to test this
01:22:05I just want to protect the charity from idiots
01:22:07Okay, that's my concern
01:22:09So, let me try this
01:22:11If you all could do this for me—little test customization
01:22:17Okay, subscribers and duration, save
01:22:29All right, I've got five minutes
01:22:31I have time to do it
01:22:36Okay, good
01:22:41Could you go now and try it again, please? Could everyone go and try it again? See if you can now leave your country or state
01:22:46I'm doing this to protect the integrity of the fundraiser
01:22:47Can everyone try it again, please? We have four minutes before Kevin Walsh speaks
01:22:53It's much more important to raise money for kids than anything else
01:22:55We have four minutes
01:22:58You're not going to miss anything, right? Can everyone try it now? Can everyone just go in there and try it now? If you could just go back and see if you can do that
01:23:06I've just changed some settings, and I want to see if we can do that
01:23:18If everyone could just jump in there
01:23:20People were saying they couldn't leave a message
01:23:26Yeah, it's working for you, Liz
01:23:28England's in the house
01:23:29Yeah
01:23:30Let me see
01:23:31Let me put it on the screen
01:23:32How long have we got now? Three minutes
01:23:34Three minutes
01:23:35If everyone can try it
01:23:36Could you all try it for me? USA

01:24:48Hello
01:24:49Uh, Tennessee, absolutely awesome
01:24:50USA, Canada, yo, Norway, Norway, England says, "Sensei, you have to open the chat direct box chat under the share and like bar defense." There you go
01:24:51It works
01:24:52All right, that's better
01:24:53That's what I'm talking about
01:24:54Thank you ever so much, everybody
01:24:56Has everyone smashed the like button? We had 363 two minutes ago; now, let's bring up Kevin Walsh
01:25:00Let's bring it up
01:25:04368, $1,068
01:25:06Look at that, we're doing it
01:25:08We're doing it
01:25:10Portugal, Portugal in the house
01:25:12Turkey, Kenya, let's go
01:25:15Saudi Arabia, this is absolutely fantastic
01:25:19Slovakia, Ireland, look at this
01:25:22Absolutely fantastic
01:25:26Wow, an American
01:25:29We have a fundraiser, and we've got people all over the world
01:25:31I'm loving it, loving it
01:25:33Love Dev North and his Lori
01:25:35Right, here we go
01:25:37It's time for Kevin Walsh
01:25:39>> Risks or opportunities around the discussion we're about to hear from him
01:25:44>> Well, I think he, uh, >> 370 likes, $1,068 that he wants—price stability
01:25:50USA, UK, Lee Mortimer—sooner rather than later
01:25:54>> RJ America, JJ, have to kind of stay with his, uh, hawkish bent because a quarter point isn't going to do anything here
01:26:01I think >> we need our moderators tonight >> to kind of follow >> all our moderators
01:26:06We need you tonight raising rates
01:26:10>> It's going to be a very busy night
01:26:12Moderators, we need you tonight
01:26:15There is a point of tightening baked in across the curve now
01:26:17So if he Thinks Philippines in the house, India
01:26:19We got India in the house
01:26:21Wimbledon
01:26:23>> One minute to go, folks
01:26:25What the market's opinion is, he himself said he didn't want to talk too much
01:26:28He didn't want to, uh, uh
01:26:30>> 374 likes
01:26:33See how the market's in a big night tonight
01:26:35>> And I think a lot of this has to do with the Middle East, for sure
01:26:37I mean, well, prices are back over $100
01:26:39That's a big deal
01:26:42Maybe they'll come right back down after the midterms, but I'm not so sure
01:26:46Well, it might come back down after the midterms because we do something different with Iran, but that's a different show, on a different time
01:26:50Larry Adam, 50 seconds left
01:26:53Is the stock market higher or lower one year from now? I think it's higher
01:26:56I think the..
01:26:59>> Even with today's stock market, you may get a couple of months of volatility, which typically happens when a new interest rate cycle starts
01:27:05But the bottom line is, 12 months later, you still see positive results
01:27:08This time around, earnings power is strong
01:27:10We're looking for 30% earnings growth this year, 15% next year
01:27:12And as everybody's been talking about, the P/E multiples have come down from 22 to 19
01:27:19It's a pretty attractive area to get into the market right now
01:27:21>> The Fed raised rates to 4.75% and the Dow soared to 34,500
01:27:23Jamie
01:27:24>> Yeah
01:27:25After the rate cycle ended, that's the point
01:27:27Once we find Kevin Walsh, please stand by to forecast what the future holds, but it's not going to be very long after this rate hike
01:27:33Raise two times, thousands of dollars max
01:27:38We have a special guest from the market who’s going to be higher
01:27:40But what you said, we should just dwell on that for one extra second: when they stopped the tightening cycle in 1994, that was when people could kind of exhale and say, "Okay, now we're at the beginning." But the markets already want to know where the end is
01:27:53 >> What happened in the last hiking cycle, too
01:27:55The market was terrible during the 2022 episode or whatever
01:27:57Afterwards, it propelled forward
01:27:59It’s sort of the template
01:28:00And so that’s why it would probably be fine for 2027
01:28:05I mean, it’s not like it’s going to kill off the AI infrastructure, but there is a risk [clears throat] that
01:28:10Because if you go back to 2022, and here comes the Fed Chair, but you know, it was lower rates that did help propel a lot of this
01:28:14So, uh, with no further ado, Fed Chair Jerome Powell
01:28:16>> Good day
01:28:22In the meeting just concluded, the FOMC decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate by a quarter of a percentage point to 4% to 4.25%, in support of the Federal Reserve's dual mandate
01:28:36The committee is continuing its policy of maintaining ample reserves in the banking system
01:28:43As noted in the policy statement released just a short while ago, economic activity is expanding at a solid pace
01:28:50While uncertainty remains elevated owing in part to geopolitical developments, domestic spending has been resilient
01:28:59Productivity growth is strong, and capital investment is robust
01:29:05Job gains have kept pace with the workforce, and the unemployment rate has changed little, but inflation remains elevated
01:29:12Today's policy action will support a timelier return to the committee's 2% goal
01:29:20This committee will deliver price stability
01:29:23Now, I'll go into some further detail
01:29:28Our decision comes at a time when the American economy appears to be strengthening
01:29:33New hiring, private sector earnings, and business capital investment—each of these indicators has improved in recent months and is pointing in a good direction
01:29:46Credit flows have been robust, particularly for businesses
01:29:50And, as I mentioned at the policy symposium in Jackson Hole, I..
01:29:56It would be hard pressed to describe broad financial conditions as restrictive
01:29:59This view was widely shared by the committee
01:30:02So we removed a dose of accommodation
01:30:05Consider the geopolitical landscape of shocks and uncertainty, and you begin to appreciate the resilience of the US economy
01:30:16Given that resilience and the potential for even greater performance, an attitude of optimism is exactly what I heard inside the FOMC these last two days
01:30:28One basic sign of strength is the state of America's labor markets
01:30:35The jobless rate remains low at around 4.1%, and both job openings and weekly hours have been increasing
01:30:45Unemployment claims on a four-week moving average are running at levels consistent with full employment
01:30:49Employment
01:30:54So the labor side of the Federal Reserve's Congressional Committee is in good shape
01:30:58Yet, for more than five years, inflation has been running above target
01:31:03So, our predominant focus is on the price stability side of our mandate
01:31:08The plain fact is that inflation is too high and has been for too long
01:31:15This summer's inflation readings do not tell me that underlying trends have meaningfully improved
01:31:23Based on the most recent CPI and PPI data, the 12-month change in total PCE prices likely was around 3.6%, possibly up to 6% in August
01:31:32Core PCE and CPI prices are running at about 3.2% and 2.4%, respectively
01:31:37Too many categories are still posting increases above 3% on both a six- and twelve-month basis
01:31:49I noted in Jackson Hole that overall commodity prices..
01:31:54Also, be watching, and over the intervening period, the prices of many of these key inputs have risen
01:32:00Since my first FOMC meeting as Chairman in June, my colleagues and I have been unequivocal in our commitment to price stability and to our 2% PCE inflation objective
01:32:11At our July meeting, we all agreed that inflation remained too high, and we expressed our joint readiness to act as circumstances might require
01:32:24A good majority of my colleagues and I thought the wiser course then would be to await new information
01:32:33Last month, in Wyoming, I expressed my commitment to monetary policy discipline, not to a specific decision
01:32:41I defined the standard for action: we must be confident that underlying inflation is moving towards our target
01:32:51The objective clearly and at sufficient speed today
01:32:54The FOMC decided that this standard has not been satisfied
01:32:59The committee's unanimous vote shows our resolve to achieve price stability on a timelier basis
01:33:07We aim to ensure that credit and financial conditions are consistent over time with our mandate—that relative price changes in some sectors of the economy do not broaden, that inflation compensation in market prices stays low, and that inflation expectations remain well anchored
01:33:29This afternoon, you also received the summary of economic projections
01:33:33It reflects the views of my colleagues on the committee, but as in June, I have not offered a projection of my own
01:33:40But like in June, I said I would faithfully..
01:33:43Disclose the summary of their projections
01:33:44So, here it goes
01:33:46In the summary's median projections, real GDP growth is at 2.3% this year, 2.4% next year
01:33:51Total PCE inflation runs at 3.7% this year and falls to 2.3% next year
01:34:00The unemployment rate holds steady at about 4.1%
01:34:06The median participant judges that the appropriate federal funds rate will be 4.1% at the end of this year and remain there next year
01:34:17Inflation risks are to the upside, while labor risks are roughly balanced
01:34:22In my meetings over the last few weeks in Jackson Hole, in Asheville at the G20 meeting which the US hosted, and at a central bank conference in Basel, it was evident that most advanced economies are facing price pressures and their central banks are..
01:34:42Making their own judgments consistent with their own mandates
01:34:45Our decision today reflects our best judgment in service to our mandate
01:34:50The Fed has a role in sustaining the economic progress happening in America right now and the rising opportunities that come with it
01:35:01Those who are least well off have the most to gain from a durable expansion, a solid labor market, and stable prices
01:35:09We at the Fed are unwavering in our vital and straightforward purpose: full employment and price stability, and a thriving American economy that sets the standard for the world
01:35:24And with that, I'll take a few of your questions
01:35:26>> Thank you
01:35:32>> Uh, Chair Powell, thank you for doing this
01:35:33Um, I'm Richard Escobido with CBS
01:35:35Um, let me navigate
01:35:37Over to my questions
01:35:40Um, you know, a quarter point rate hike does not necessarily prevent poor outcomes
01:35:42Um, and so I wonder how you think these smaller rate hikes will be effective when they can't necessarily address the energy supply side of inflationary pressures
01:35:53>> Yeah, it's a good question
01:35:55Uh, Richard, we cannot affect any individual price, whether it be oil prices or food items at the grocery store
01:36:04But what we can do and will do is ensure that any change in relative prices doesn't broaden out, doesn't have second- and third-order effects on the economy
01:36:14That's what we're tasked to do, and that's what we will do
01:36:16>> Colby, >> thank you
01:36:20Colby Smith in the New York Times
01:36:24When the Fed starts Raising rates, it generally follows with a sequence of hikes
01:36:28Is there anything different in today's assessment of the economic conditions that would suggest that the typical pattern does not apply? And I guess, second to that, what impact do [clears throat] you expect higher rates to have at this juncture if the bulk of what is keeping inflation elevated is stemming from supply shocks? >> So, we're trying to get to more people
01:36:45So, I now get to cherry-pick my preferred question from you, Colby
01:36:49Um, this won't surprise you
01:36:52I'm not in the forward guidance business
01:36:53The decision we made today was a sober decision, a serious decision, a responsible decision, one that we have been preparing for and thinking about in my 110 years of experience at the Federal Reserve
01:36:58For 20 days here
01:37:04Uh, you heard from other people in the dots effectively what their forecasts are
01:37:09Uh, I'm not going to prejudge any future decisions we make
01:37:14Uh, you might have heard me say in Jackson Hole, I committed to a discipline, a set of principles
01:37:18I committed to look outside the window and see what I can observe
01:37:22Uh, that's what I did in Jackson
01:37:25That's what we did today
01:37:27>> Edward Lawrence
01:37:30>> Thank you, Mr
01:37:31Chairman
01:37:32Edward Lawrence from Fox Business
01:37:34Um, so the market priced in a 90% chance of a rate hike today
01:37:36You don't want the Fed to lead the markets
01:37:41Was this a market-led rate hike? And then, with that, the bond yields are going up
01:37:44That's one of the indicators
01:37:46Um, is debt part of that issue? So, um, I've said this
01:37:49Before, I'll repeat it
01:37:53Uh, the Fed has an enormous amount of power
01:37:56These are decisions we make, but getting the understanding right between financial markets and the Fed is a balance that I've long thought could be better struck
01:38:06We made this decision today based on our assessment of the situation, based on our assessment of the trajectory for employment, and based on our judgment of the strength of the economy
01:38:19Sometimes, the market tries to prejudge our outcomes
01:38:23I'll observe market prices and see what they have to say, but today was our decision
01:38:28>> Steve Thompson with The Washington Post
01:38:32>> Elizabeth, thanks so much
01:38:44Elizabeth Scholes with ABC News
01:38:50Big picture
01:38:56I wonder if you could tell us just What will this move today actually do for American consumers? And I have to ask, what is your message here to President Trump, who has repeatedly called to cut interest rates, not raise them? >> Um, I've got nothing for you on a discussion with the president
01:39:02So, but I won't count that as your question
01:39:04As for the American people, as I said in my prepared remarks, the least well-off are the ones who have the most to gain from stable prices
01:39:14The decision we made today was the right decision to deliver on the mandate that Congress gave us to ensure stable prices
01:39:22Moreover, I would say, because of the underlying strength of the economy, and because we are, as I mentioned, largely acting in line with full employment, We can be focused on stable prices
01:39:34Some months ago, I said we will deliver stable prices
01:39:37Today's action is consistent with that
01:39:41>> Chris, >> Hi, how are you? Thank you
01:39:47Um, can you tell us a little more about what changed from the July meeting, when, as you noted, the Fed did stand pat until today? And as part of that, could you give us a sense of whether things like the retail sales report today suggest that demand is heating up and possibly threatening higher prices as well? Thank you
01:40:07>> Yeah
01:40:09So, as you might know, I'm not a data-dependent guy
01:40:11Um, so I won't react one way or another to data that shows up on our doorstep
01:40:17But on your first question, I think the more important one, what..
01:40:21What transpired in the seven weeks since we last met? First, I would say a good majority of my colleagues seven weeks ago thought seven weeks was a good time to invest
01:40:30It's a way to buy time so we can make a wise decision
01:40:32I'll highlight three things that have happened in that interim period
01:40:36One is, I may have had a judgment seven weeks ago about the strength of the economy
01:40:43There's been a pretty wide-ranging set of data, including the labor markets, indicating that the economy has strengthened
01:40:49You might have heard me say that in Jackson Hole a few weeks ago
01:40:52It's a judgment that I have, and the committee has
01:40:55Uh, second, inflation trends
01:40:58Uh, I said in Jackson Hole, trends matter
01:41:01I said in Jackson Hole, we need to look outside the window and..
01:41:04Interrogate reality
01:41:05Um, my judgment some weeks ago was that the inflation summer trends weren't passing the test
01:41:11I've seen very little information since that would make me reverse that decision
01:41:16So, I've stuck with it
01:41:18And the third thing that's changed in seven weeks is geopolitics
01:41:20And there's no hiding from hot spots around the world, and our judgment about what is the most likely or least likely geopolitical situation has changed
01:41:32All three of those things led to a firm, unanimous decision today
01:41:37>> Clear Jones, Financial Times
01:41:45Um, you said today's decision removes a dose of accommodation
01:41:48In your view, and perhaps if you could share views around the table too, are interest rates now… Are you able to describe the current level of financial conditions as restrictive or not? Thank you
01:41:56As I have described previously, I found it difficult to describe financial conditions as restrictive
01:42:03I believe I said I was hard-pressed
01:42:11What I heard around the table in the last couple of days is that my colleagues were hard-pressed to describe it that way too
01:42:18We removed a dose of accommodation so that financial and credit conditions would be more consistent with our ultimate objectives
01:42:28That was the decision, that was our judgment, and we will continue to evaluate that prospectively
01:42:33 >> Uh, Steve Leman
01:42:35 >> Uh, thank you, Mr
01:42:38Chairman
01:42:39Steve Leman, CNBC
01:42:40I want to follow up on that question
01:42:42Um, previously, most Fed officials had described the rate as..
01:42:46Modestly restrictive, and if you removed accommodation, could you give us your sense of where the Fed funds rate is relative to neutral, and some detail, if you wouldn't mind, on your sense of whether there is a short-term neutral rate you're aiming for and a longer-term neutral rate? Do you think in terms of those? >> Uh, in a word, no
01:43:07Um, in a few words, I'd say this: um, I've always been interested in a neutral rate as an academic matter
01:43:14Back when I learned economics, we used to think of it as a Wicksellian rate
01:43:17It's a real equilibrium rate
01:43:20Um, it's useful academically
01:43:22It's a discussion to help us think about policy
01:43:28Do I think it has any operational effect on decisions that we make today? No, I don't
01:43:32>> Victoria
01:43:36>> Um, hi, Victoria
01:43:39Aguido with Politico
01:43:42I wanted to ask, you've talked about how you don't like data dependence, including today
01:43:46Um, but heading into this meeting, there was a ton of focus on the August CPI, and I'm wondering if you think that was appropriate on the part of markets or if you have learned anything about how you might approach communications going forward
01:43:59>> Um, so market participants and reporters, I think generally over the course of the last decade or so, have grown accustomed to waiting somewhat breathlessly on a data point
01:44:13Um, that isn't my view
01:44:16Um, I was not waiting breathlessly on what any particular data was, whether it was retail sales this morning or a CPI print last week
01:44:25Um, I'll just reiterate, trends
01:44:27Matter
01:44:29Data points are noisy
01:44:30Data point dependence is a dangerous preoccupation
01:44:34It's not something that concerns me
01:44:37Markets over time will come to understand how this Fed makes its decisions, what's relevant and not, and I wouldn’t want to editorialize that for them beyond that
01:44:47 >> Zack, >> Thanks for doing this, Mr
01:44:52Chairman
01:44:53Zach Kashack, Washington Examiner
01:44:54Um, I'm just curious
01:44:55A couple of weeks ago, the president sent out a message essentially threatening to cut off trade to certain countries unless rates were lowered
01:45:02Obviously, a unanimous decision to do the opposite
01:45:03What would you say to investors who sort of believe this is another test of the Fed's independence? And then kind of… When was the last time you spoke with the president? Do you anticipate a post-decision meeting, or did you give me a long menu to choose from? They're all very tempting
01:45:18Um, I don't have anything for you on discussions with the president
01:45:23Um, and I'm not a Wall Street newsletter
01:45:25Um, part of the independence of the Federal Reserve is that we stay in our lane
01:45:31Independence is a two-way street
01:45:33We'll let people who do trade policy and fiscal policy stay in their lanes, too
01:45:38That's how we can stand here and call them the way we see them
01:45:42>> Brian Chung
01:45:44>> Hi there, Brian Chung with NBC News
01:45:50Uh, just wondering if you could explain who is the least well-off, and what does a rate hike do when those people might be pinched by higher borrowing costs? Mortgage rates, higher gas, higher grocery prices, and now broad higher rates
01:45:54>> Yeah
01:45:57Um, it's a fair question
01:46:01In macroeconomics, we tend to look at aggregates around here, like aggregate GDP, overall labor market trends, and the state of inflation
01:46:11A lot of people in Washington spend a lot of time on distributional consequences, and that's their job and their business
01:46:18What I was referring to is that the less well-off tend to be people who don't own financial assets
01:46:21>> Not good
01:46:24>> A bit less than 50% of the country
01:46:27They don't have equity in their home; they don't have equity in a 401(k) plan, so they're living off their paycheck that comes every couple of weeks
01:46:35The thing that we can do, consistent with our mandate, is to..
01:46:38Things
01:46:42Ask ourselves, is the country running more or less at full employment? There >> either, and we've done that
01:46:46>> Um, that doesn't mean that individuals aren't searching for a job, but in aggregate, we're running more or less at full employment
01:46:52If so, we can then look at the other side of our mandate and let that be our focus: stable prices
01:46:56An environment where inflation is running consistent with our 2% objective offers good news because, in that case, when people get their wages, they can put their heads above water and see real take-home pay increases
01:47:11We don't have total responsibility for it, but we do have responsibility for stable prices
01:47:16As I've said before, inflation's a choice
01:47:18And today we..
01:47:20Took a step in delivering it
01:47:22>> Miami
01:47:24>> Yes
01:47:25Oh yeah, sorry, from France AFP
01:47:27Are you looking at the other central banks, and what do you think about the European Central Bank's move? They hiked twice this year but not consecutively
01:47:34Thank you
01:47:42>> Um, well, I don't ask them to prejudge decisions that we're going to make, so I won't prejudge decisions that they make
01:47:49But I will say this: I've spent some time with foreign central bank counterparts, not just in the last 20 years but over the course of the last several weeks, as I mentioned in Jackson Hole, at the G20 meeting we hosted in North Carolina, and at a central bank meeting in Basel
01:48:07What I heard around the table from most of the advanced economies is they're suffering from..
01:48:12Price pressures too, and they're making their own choices consistent with their remit
01:48:16Um, it tells me a couple of things
01:48:21One is when the Federal Reserve makes a policy choice, uh, it matters not just to the US economy, but it spills over to the rest of the world
01:48:29To a lesser extent, that's true for them too
01:48:31When foreign central banks make decisions where they're confronted with higher prices and they choose, consistent with their remit to, uh, raise rates, then they're helping to quash inflation in their countries, and there are spillovers and spillbacks in both directions
01:48:47Beyond that, I won't opine on what other central banks may choose to do this week or beyond
01:48:51>> Nick Timos
01:48:56>> Thank you, Nick Timmeros of The Wall Street Journal
01:49:00Wall Street Journal
01:49:05Chairman Worsh, last fall you expressed concern that the Fed was about to make its sixth or seventh big mistake by deciding the economy was too strong to justify lower rates
01:49:11Now, today you raised rates
01:49:17Can you give some sense as to what changed your own assessment of the US economy between then and now? >> So I don't, I don't remember the full context, but I can tell you, uh, Nick, about the state of growth
01:49:24Now, my suspicion 110 or 120 days ago when I showed up was that the US economy was strengthening, even over the last several weeks
01:49:32I think we now have data broadly defined that says the economy has indeed strengthened
01:49:38Um, underlying growth is higher
01:49:41Uh, inflation is the problem
01:49:43Stable prices have been..
01:49:47The problem for now has been present for more than five and a half years
01:49:53So, what the committee decided to do today was take an action to ensure a timelier return to our price stability objective
01:49:57Price stability is foundational to economic growth, and I think we took an important step today to deliver it, in part by removing the dose of accommodation that I mentioned before
01:50:09 >> Neil Irwin
01:50:11 >> Thank you, Mr
01:50:12Chairman
01:50:14Uh, Neil Irwin with Axios
01:50:16Uh, longer-term bond yields have increased quite a bit over the last few months, especially the last few weeks
01:50:23What do you believe the bond market is telling you, especially about the growth outlook, the neutral rate, and what are the implications for monetary policy? >> Yeah
01:50:29Um, let me..
01:50:31Let's talk about the history, what bond market prices do prospectively
01:50:33I want to let them do their, I want to let them, uh, tell me any story they wish to
01:50:40I want to try to interrogate that
01:50:43But why did yields rise, let's say, since the last FOMC meeting up until now? I'll give you three reasons, but I would say these things tend to be overdetermined
01:50:54This is a complicated set of factors affecting the most important asset anywhere in the world, the 10-year Treasury
01:50:59It's the risk-free asset upon which virtually every other asset price in the world is related
01:51:03So, I'll mention three things
01:51:07First is economic strength
01:51:11I think part of the reason why we've seen, over the course of 2026, long-term yields go up is the economy
01:51:14It is strengthened
01:51:16The second reason is competition for capital
01:51:18The surge in capital expenditures, which I referenced in my remarks, is real, and the so-called hyperscalers are out in the market raising funding
01:51:29Therefore, the competition for capital is real, and I think it partly explains the increase in yields
01:51:37The third reason is geopolitics
01:51:39The situation in hot spots around the world is driving long-term yields
01:51:41It's not simply spot prices of energy or spot prices for corn, soybeans, or wheat, but rather the difference between those spot prices and the so-called crack spreads
01:51:58This affects the products that find their way into stores across the country
01:52:00I believe these are the three main explanations, but certainly..
01:52:04Not an exclusive list
01:52:08>> Michael McKee, >> Michael McKee from Bloomberg Radio and Television
01:52:11Uh, you said in Jackson Hole that you want to see inflation come down clearly and at sufficient speed, which is a standard without necessarily a measurable threshold
01:52:23And the reason I ask is because today, you say today's policy action will support a timelier return to the committee's 2% target
01:52:33And yet, in the summary of economic projections, the median pushes the 2% target achievement out to 2029, another two years
01:52:39And I'm wondering how you can square those two things
01:52:45>> Um, one easy way to square that, Mike, is those aren't my forecasts
01:52:49>> Um, those are the forecasts of my 18 colleagues, and I tried to represent them
01:52:54My duty is to you
01:52:57Um, my task is not to give forward guidance, but my commitment in June was to reaffirm to the American people, to anyone listening, that we will deliver price stability
01:53:08My commitment in July was to say we want to buy a little bit of time, evaluate what's happening across a range of dimensions
01:53:16And what I said in Jackson Hole in August is that we're committed to discipline, not to a specific decision
01:53:25Today's action starts to show we're serious about this, and we will deliver on the price stability objective
01:53:29As the statement said, we'll do it on a timelier basis
01:53:35That is our decision, and when we continue our discussions over the next several weeks and months, we'll have more
01:53:44To say about it, but I'm ill-prepared to prejudge those future actions
01:53:47>> Matt from CNN
01:53:49Thanks, Chairman Walsh
01:53:52Matty with CNN, you've spoken in the past about the positives that could come from widespread adoption of artificial intelligence
01:54:02How concerned are you, if at all,, about these increasingly alarming warnings we've heard from AI leaders about losing control of this powerful technology and doing real-world damage, damage that would presumably impact the real economy? So, I've spent a lot of time thinking about AI, and before I found my way to this post, I spent a lot of time talking about it publicly
01:54:29Um, the independence of the Federal Reserve is about staying in our lane
01:54:31We care very much about what's..
01:54:34Happening in artificial intelligence
01:54:36We care a lot about the implications on the demand side of the economy and ultimately on the supply side of the economy
01:54:44I care very much
01:54:46I think it's so important that we establish a task force that should report by the end of the year to help us consider the implications for our future policy environment
01:54:54But the policy decisions that are made about the risks and rewards, the challenges and opportunities, are decisions made by other parts of the government
01:55:05I'm going to leave it to them to make those political decisions and policy decisions
01:55:08The implications of those decisions obviously have some bearing on our day-to-day work, and that's where we'll be focused
01:55:15For the last question, we'll go to Jennifer Shawnberger back
01:55:17>> Thank you, Mr
01:55:18Chairman
01:55:19Jennifer Shawnberger with Yahoo Finance
01:55:20Inflation has increased mostly due to higher energy prices and tariffs, which some say are supply shocks that rate hikes cannot fix and should fade on their own as long as inflation expectations remain anchored
01:55:38Now that you have raised rates, do you need to push economic growth below its potential, unintentionally weakening the job market to bring inflation down? And how do those dynamics play out given the forcefulness with which AI is driving the economy right now? >> So there's a lot there, Jennifer
01:55:56Let me see if I can address just a little of it
01:55:59Um, first, we believe..
01:56:01The unemployment rate is basically consistent with full employment
01:56:03Uh, I don't believe that we need to do harm to the labor markets to achieve our objectives
01:56:15I don't believe that the two parts of our mandate—price stability and full employment—are working at cross purposes over the medium term
01:56:22So, economic growth that is ensuring continuous, sustainable, and durable growth—that's the business we're in, and the job we did today and will continue to do—is to ensure price stability, which can mean that sustainable, durable economic growth can go on for longer
01:56:42The economy can be stronger, and as I mentioned before, the least well-off can reap the benefits of it
01:56:45>> Thank you
01:56:49>> Thank you
01:56:50Stand by
01:56:52>> Good afternoon
01:56:54Welcome to Closing Bill
01:56:56We'll take it a few seconds early as the Fed chair finishes
01:56:59I'm Scott Winer
01:57:03We're live [music] from Los Angeles today
01:57:07The Fed is raising interest rates
01:57:09>> What the heck happened there? I was looking at some data and it just ended
01:57:14Well, that was a bit bizarre
01:57:15This Kevin Walsh just..
01:57:16It just ends
01:57:19Well, that was interesting
01:57:22Uh, okay
01:57:25Um, so what do you make of that? Uh, I think we're now going to get a rate cycle
01:57:28Rates are going to go up continually
01:57:30This is not good for a lot of businesses, but it's okay for others
01:57:34So, we have to understand where we stand right now
01:57:37So, let's uh, let's have a look
01:57:39Let's go through all our positions
01:57:42Uh, so here we go
01:57:45We, we
01:57:48We will do a live Q&A, and in a moment, of course, we're going to go through to our fundraiser event
01:57:51So, I'm beating the market again today, up 3.56%
01:57:53I'm all in over $1 million with SpaceX and Rocket Lab
01:57:56I think that's where the money will go when we pull back in October
01:57:59I think we are
01:58:02The S&P is down today, not good at all
01:58:04So, we've beaten the S&P by a long way
01:58:08Virgin Galactic, we could go under $2 now
01:58:10This is a continuation of rate hikes
01:58:13This could be, not suggesting it is, but it could be the final straw for Virgin Galactic
01:58:18They might not survive this
01:58:21We've said there was a 4.5% chance of bankruptcy
01:58:28I'll do my numbers, run the models later, but I wouldn't be surprised if we jump up to somewhere
01:58:36Above 25 to 30% now
01:58:38So, still 70% chance we won't, but the risk to reward—I would rather buy it at five, knowing it's going to ten
01:58:44So, this is going to struggle
01:58:48Now, SpaceX, it's held up
01:58:50The money will go there exactly as I predicted
01:58:51I think we're going to be at $70 at any moment, uh, maybe $200 by Friday
01:58:56Rebalancing is on the way
01:59:00Rocket Lab, they won't like this
01:59:03I'll be buying more if it goes significantly lower, but I have a very good half a million position in there
01:59:07I'm not buying anytime soon
01:59:08Palantir is up
01:59:10Um, gold, well, gold's gone down
01:59:12I don't, I don't believe in hedges
01:59:13I don't believe in, uh, I don't believe in any of that sort of stuff
01:59:19It doesn't make any money
01:59:21It just creates fear
01:59:22I don't buy into fear
01:59:24I don't have any fear
01:59:26I just buy
01:59:27Balance sheets, and I wait it out
01:59:28That's what I do, and I continually earn money so I can buy more on the way down, using my lots, using my tax harvesting, and all the rest of the tools we have
01:59:32But stop-loss is most certainly not
01:59:36Amazon [snorts] on the way down
01:59:40No surprise
01:59:42Apple on the way down
01:59:43Nphase Energy
01:59:45I feel so sorry for this because this is a $100 stock, and because of this nonsense, this pointless war that just goes on for no reason whatsoever
01:59:52Everyone will say it's because of a nuclear issue, but it's not
01:59:57There was no nuclear in Iraq
01:59:59We haven't got any threat of it in Iran either
02:00:04[sighs] And people just can't put solar on their roofs
02:00:06They can't buy new cars because of this inflation
02:00:08which was completely self-created
02:00:10Coca-Cola is also going down
02:00:12So, when you see the S&P, risk assets, and defensive sectors all declining, you know a crash is coming
02:00:17It's coming
02:00:21There's no doubt about it in my mind
02:00:24It's set for October
02:00:26Of course, it doesn't happen on demand
02:00:28I want to buy back Coca-Cola; I will buy back Coca-Cola, but I'm not doing it here
02:00:33I'm not doing it now
02:00:35Money is going to go into SpaceX
02:00:39That's what I predicted would happen, and in fact, it has happened
02:00:40Every prediction I've made over the past four years has been correct
02:00:42My targets have beaten the market
02:00:44It's clearly straightforward
02:00:46We are so easy to understand what's going on
02:00:49Texas Pacific Land has gone down
02:00:51That will continue to decline
02:00:53Oil, I'm not really quite sure why
02:00:56Chevron is down today
02:01:00I'll have to do some research after the show, but [snorts], uh, interesting to see oil coming down when actually oil is going up
02:01:03It's kind of weird
02:01:06Anyway, Poet is up 0.55, Momentous is up 79, Tesla is pretty flat at the moment
02:01:08Google is down, Microsoft is down, Meta is resilient
02:01:11Look, it's going to $800
02:01:13Not in these conditions, though, but nevertheless, Nvidia can't buy it; it's too close to the target
02:01:22Freeport is down, Walmart is down
02:01:24So, bellwether tells you where the economy is going
02:01:26It was at 120, came all the way down to 101
02:01:31We bought it, sold it at 106, went to Rocket Lab, can't buy it back yet
02:01:33Robinhood is expected to come down to 60 or 70
02:01:36It's only really worth 45
02:01:39It's too expensive
02:01:41Anyway, USA Rare Earth, that will come down a lot
02:01:44Um, Comfort is up 62, Kushner is up 69
02:01:46Vertical Aerospace—I can't for the life of me work out why anyone's buying it
02:01:54I guess because this is a retail dial
02:01:56Institutions aren't buying this; retail, uh, Reddit room, you know, bro-type people are buying this at the moment, and they're just buying it because they think it's cheap
02:02:05I think it's a big mistake, just like buying XRP yesterday before the Clarity Act, which we told you would actually fail, and it did
02:02:13Buying this today is absolute suicide
02:02:14Um, I'm not doing it
02:02:16I'm going nowhere near that
02:02:17Uh, Taiwan Semiconductor is up 87
02:02:20Flare is pretty much flat
02:02:23Um, Bitcoin's up 26
02:02:26I don't know why, but people will do what they do, I
02:02:30Guess
02:02:3372 down, uh, XRP; this could be 30, uh, 30, uh, sorry, 80 cents, 50 cents
02:02:38Um, I don't know
02:02:43Uh, Tom Lee came out this morning and said if we get a rate hike, which we kind of knew was going to happen, it's good for the market
02:02:45We'll get a rally
02:02:47I don't believe that
02:02:50He said we were going to go to, uh, a hundred, uh, a hundred thousand dollars by, was it Christmas? And then it was by January, then it was by February, and every time his predictions are absolutely the opposite
02:03:01They're inaccurate, and all it ever is, is it's a buying opportunity
02:03:06It's that CNBC jargon now for just keep buying, keep watching, keep watching our silly ads
02:03:11And it's ridiculous
02:03:16I mean, Jim Cramer, I mean, has Jim Cramer ever gotten a quote right? I mean, he talked about..
02:03:20Selling, uh, J&J
02:03:23He said it was going to go bankrupt, but it wasn't going to go bankrupt at all
02:03:27He said he's dumping it, but they didn't
02:03:30It's absolute nonsense
02:03:31Absolute nonsense
02:03:32Anyway, so there we go
02:03:33That's the rundown
02:03:34It’s going to be a painful few months
02:03:36I wouldn't be in crypto; I wouldn't be in anything speculative
02:03:41So you might ask, why the hell am I in SpaceX? Well, because that's where the money's going
02:03:46And defense and AI in that sector, I think, are going to attract all the money
02:03:50So that's where I'm staying
02:03:53That's my position, and I'm not going anywhere
02:03:56Right
02:03:58So what we're going to do now is get ready for our big fundraiser
02:04:00So has everyone tapped the like button? You all done that? Click subscribe
02:04:04Okay, so what we're going to do now is something very special
02:04:08Let me tell you the rules of how this is all going to work
02:04:14In a few moments, this stream will end
02:04:17There's no closing bell
02:04:20Of course, this is the closing bell
02:04:22There's no, uh, Discord because we're doing something for others
02:04:25What we're doing is we're going to raise an absolute fortune for No Kid Hungry
02:04:30I've just seen No Kid Hungry has reposted it on X
02:04:37They've reposted it on their website and everything
02:04:39They're behind us; they're supporting us
02:04:41It's wonderful
02:04:43Obviously, why wouldn't they? But I just thought it was nice to let you know they have
02:04:49Um, but we've also got a special guest from Star Wars joining us tonight
02:04:53Uh, it's going to be a very special event
02:04:56Some of the biggest investors and fundraisers in the world are joining me
02:05:00Um, it's the most efficient fundraising group you can get
02:05:04Only 7% of their running cost goes to operate the charity, and 100% of all the money we raise goes to the kids
02:05:13No credit card fees, no deductions, no transaction fees for Visa, Mastercard, nothing for me, nothing for Google, nothing for YouTube
02:05:20100% of the money goes to the kids
02:05:24Now, what we'd like to do is, is this the event? Let me, let me— is it pinned to the top? Yeah, do it now
02:05:28So, let me just do this now
02:05:32Let me write this into the chat
02:05:36Um, let me write this into the chat
02:05:39Let me do this now
02:05:43Okay, let me do this in the chat right now
02:05:46I'm going to put this here
02:05:48Uh
02:05:51Live, um, no, uh, live
02:05:53Whoops
02:05:55I'll do it
02:05:57Live fundraiser
02:05:59Drop that in there
02:06:02Okay, there it is
02:06:05I'm going to pin that to the top of the main show here
02:06:09And I'm also going to come on
02:06:14There we go
02:06:19Uh, pin it on the phones because there's a lot of you watching on the phones tonight as well
02:06:23It goes live in a few minutes
02:06:25Replace the pin
02:06:26Okay, there you go
02:06:28Done that
02:06:29Now it will take you there automatically
02:06:33Um, okay
02:06:38I've got some information just sent in from Sensei, from the newsletter
02:06:42I am focusing on the fundraiser now, Sensei
02:06:45Sensei's got some news
02:06:48You can all see it in the, um, in the terminal
02:06:53You can all see it in the newsletter, but I want to focus on this right
02:06:57Now, um, so what we're doing now, we're going to end the stream and we're going to send you all to this event
02:07:03Okay, automatically, the link is pinned in the chat
02:07:04It's there for you
02:07:07Now, [snorts] every penny goes to feeding these kids
02:07:09Look at this, folks
02:07:12These are children in America who literally have no food
02:07:16I mean, you can't believe it, can you? It's incredible
02:07:18People donate the food as well
02:07:21That's why the charity is so efficient
02:07:22So, uh, only 7% goes to costs
02:07:25It's pretty good, right? All these are volunteers
02:07:27These are some of the children
02:07:31Not this lady here
02:07:33She's packing up the meals that we just bought
02:07:35We've just bought 10,000 meals
02:07:38Pretty impressive, right? Pretty amazing
02:07:41And you're Going to see the kids now, um, all over America, who are going to bed hungry tonight
02:07:44Okay, and this event starts very shortly
02:07:47I'm hoping that even if you can't donate, you will be there with us
02:07:52These are some of the kids who literally have no food
02:07:55I just can't believe that in America this is a reality
02:07:59Anyway, it came to my attention, and I wanted to do my part, and that's exactly what we're doing
02:08:03So, here is the event
02:08:06This is the event
02:08:08Now, when you look there, this is how we've already started
02:08:14Before the event begins, we've already raised $1,189 on the screen
02:08:21I know it's four times that amount because people are telling me they're donating directly as well
02:08:26Now, for donating directly
02:08:28It doesn't matter if you give more money or just a little; some people like to do it that way—they want to be anonymous
02:08:34But if we don’t want you to be anonymous because you want to share it with everyone, let everyone know that you're donating
02:08:39Put it on the screen now
02:08:40Even if you say, "Martin, I can't afford a dollar
02:08:44I’ve got no money." I understand that a lot of people can't afford it, especially with today's rising interest rates, and people are struggling—I understand that, we all do
02:08:47I get it
02:08:51But what you can do is just come to the event
02:08:55I’ve put the link in the chat
02:08:58Now, if we get a thousand people watching the event live, and it stays online forever, it will raise money forever for the charity
02:09:05If you simply show up, by showing up, you are giving money to charity
02:09:08For free
02:09:12How that works is YouTube goes, "Wow, there's a thousand people watching this
02:09:15This is amazing
02:09:18Let's push it out to another thousand people
02:09:20Oh, they're watching as well." And then, all of a sudden, it goes viral
02:09:23It then finds people who do have the money and can donate
02:09:27So you're literally having a say and making a difference and effecting change without having to donate, just by simply watching, sharing, liking, and being there
02:09:33Now then, during the concert, for those who don't know, I've taught all over the world, from my own Vegas show to the West End
02:09:43I'm the world piano man
02:09:46Okay
02:09:49I have Elton John's jacket from when I won the World Piano Man title, the one he wore in Candle in the Wind
02:09:52I'm going to be doing..
02:09:55Impressions, voices, uh, from Pavarotti to Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson, a special guest from Star Wars on the show
02:09:58It's all happening
02:10:01When you come in, if you want a special dedication, a special song, or a special request, you come in and you do a donation
02:10:08The money goes directly to the charity
02:10:11There is no Super Chat as there normally is
02:10:14There's no Super Chat
02:10:15You simply do a donation
02:10:17Okay? You simply do a donation
02:10:19I will see it because it will say here, look, let's have a look
02:10:27Who made the last donation? Who last did a donation? Scroll up, scroll up, scroll up
02:10:31Someone just did a donation
02:10:34Where is it? Um, that's embarrassing
02:10:38Uh oh, there we go
02:10:40Bloody hell
02:10:41So, there you go
02:10:43Joel, Joel, 140
02:10:44I donated $20, so I can see Joel
02:10:46I can see his icon, I can see his logo
02:10:49He can now write underneath, "Could you sing me the Piano Man?" and I'll do the biggest donations first
02:10:53That's how it's going to work
02:10:56All right, we'll do the biggest donations first
02:11:00If you donate $1,000 or whatever amount you choose and want "Nessun Dorma," Pavarotti, or some big song or whatever it might be, I will play it for you
02:11:12We do the big ones first, and you get to clip the screen
02:11:15You can own the copyright and have your own video
02:11:16So maybe you want to dedicate a song, or share love with somebody
02:11:20Maybe you want to share love by going, not only that, every $50 feeds 500 meals
02:11:25Think about that
02:11:27Think about that
02:11:29It's really that impressive
02:11:30So, you could do a donation
02:11:34Oh, look, RB is already in
02:11:36Look at him
02:11:38He's the best, isn't he? RB, you got busy tonight, mate
02:11:41Take care of keeping the channel free from trolls
02:11:42There is the song list
02:11:45You can go and have a look at which songs I sing
02:11:49So, you can do a donation, right? The money goes directly to the charity, and then you can follow it up with your name
02:11:56I can see it's you, same person, same logo, and you can say, "Will you sing me the Piano Man?" or whatever it might be
02:12:00All right
02:12:05Now, when you come into the show, make sure that when you get there, you all tap the like button
02:12:08Everyone share
02:12:11When you click the share button, you see that? Look at that URL
02:12:12When you..
02:12:14Click share, and you'll get this URL
02:12:16You copy it like that, and when you copy it, you can send it
02:12:21You can send it via text, email, social media—not just X and Facebook, but also WhatsApp, Messenger, or any other platform
02:12:26Let me try and show you
02:12:28I'm trying to zoom in
02:12:30There we go
02:12:33If you go here, look—WhatsApp, email—you can even copy that into a text message
02:12:35Text all your friends
02:12:37The best ever fundraiser, and all you've got to say is, if you show up, they're earning money just by you showing up
02:12:40So everyone is valuable
02:12:44Everyone is important
02:12:47We're going to have people tonight calling in from all over the world who can't donate, who don't have any money, but they'll be there
02:12:55Now, when I raised millions, when I..
02:12:58I did the Lions Club, We had kids, all the Lions Camp kids in, and they can't donate
02:13:02They're kids, but they were sharing it with their friends
02:13:04We had thousands in
02:13:07So, you can do that
02:13:09You have the power to do something really special tonight
02:13:11So, click share, click like, and if you don't want to miss the event, click notification
02:13:18It will be live at 4:00 PM Central, which is in 1 hour and 45 minutes
02:13:20It will go early
02:13:23There will be a buildup, so get everybody in
02:13:25And it'll be a really great event
02:13:27Now, I'll keep—I'll keep doing it, I'll keep playing, I'll keep entertaining as long as money is coming in for these kids
02:13:33This could be the biggest fundraiser, most profitable fundraiser—most certainly they have ever had
02:13:37Pretty cool, right? There we go
02:13:41We hope you'll all enjoy
02:13:44We hope you'll all join us there
02:13:46It's going to be a very, very special evening
02:13:49I really do sincerely hope that everybody can be with us at the event
02:13:53It's going to be incredible
02:13:55So, please do tune in, be there, and be part of it
02:13:59That's it
02:14:02So, I'm going to leave you now and hope that everyone joins me for this very special occasion
02:14:08No Discord, of course, because we're doing this
02:14:11I'll be back in the morning for the opening bell
02:14:14I wouldn't worry about the market
02:14:15I hope you're not worried
02:14:17We're going to see a lot of volatility
02:14:18Yes, we are
02:14:19The S&P is falling off a cliff
02:14:21The crash has already begun
02:14:23[gasps] Donald Trump is saying it's the greatest market ever, the best ever, 9%
02:14:30This year, [interest rates] are way below average, about half of where they should be
02:14:31So, uh, that's bloody awful
02:14:34Um, fortunately, I'm invested in SpaceX
02:14:37That's where the money's going
02:14:40I got out of crypto before it collapsed
02:14:43Um, Coca-Cola, it's going down
02:14:44Defensive stocks are going down
02:14:46This is the beginning of all of it
02:14:50I'm sorry, but it is what it is
02:14:52Um, I tried to help people
02:14:54I tried to let you know what was going on, and it's happening right in front of your eyes
02:14:59It's not going to be good
02:15:00Uh, crypto, for some strange reason, is up—well, it's down, but it's going up at the moment
02:15:05I think that's institutions pumping to dump it on you
02:15:08It is, no question
02:15:10I know I talked to these people, and uh, Jamie Dimon famously said, "We'll sell you any crap." And in a situation like this, you don't want to be chasing crypto, do you? Especially as it just, uh, flopped on the Clarity Act
